Can he continue a superlative MiLB track record into the next level? I'm not sure the Angels think he can or he'd be up by now. So maybe low ball them. He's exactly the type of player, like Benson, the Reds should be in on.

A Fraley/Fairchild strict platoon is uninspiring. It's like a .750 OPS guy. It has a more than decent OBP, but lacks pop. It's... fine, I guess, but it can be improved.
OK, so you want to acquire a hitter who's main weakness is the same thing for which people are critical of EDLC? I mean, I get the allure, and there would be worse pickups. Just not sure I want the Reds cashing prospects for that just yet. Senzel for Adell might make more sense.

I'm not critical of him for it. It's a part of who he is, and his positives outweigh the negatives. Especially since the negatives are not physical traits. He can unlearn them, so to speak. Will he? Who knows. But I want to see EDLC in a Reds uni, and if they called him up tomorrow, I'd probably be ok with it.

He has not hit at the MLB level. He's destroyed MiLB at every level. He got the Barrero treatment in 2020, a too soon promotion. If the Angels have soured on him, the Reds should be making calls inquiring on the price. Friedl flanked by Adell and Benson could be very interesting. Yeah, I know it is not going to happen fully, but I actually do expect Benson back by the end of the month.

I'd take a flyer on Adell. If I could get him for say Brandon Williiamson or Levi Stoudt, sign me up. Not trading Stewart and Acuna for him.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I'd be all about taking a flyer on Adell.

I might even give Stewart OR Acuna for him, but not both.

    Re: The Outfield

I think if you can glean this sort of player without spending a lot of prospect currency, it's worth bringing him in. At worst, he gives your Triple-A team some thump. I would gamble that the Braves would bring Adell in, park him in right field and win the NL-E by 8 games because the other two guys they pilfered at the deadline put up major numbers alongside him. Must be the beer they drink in Georgia.

Either way, these are players who are looking for a chance to play in the bigs and if they learned what they did wrong the first time, maybe they figured it out. Could be, you get a Dietrich or Scooter who overplays his baseball card and gets you 5 wins before Memorial Day.

Forget the cost in terms of prospects. That's a minutia argument. One person's price is an overpay to another. My point is LAA has seemingly soured on him. The Reds should be in the market to acquire him.

    Re: The Outfield

Ok so... EDLC has performed waaaaaay better than I expected. Benson returned almost exactly when I said he would, and Bell has been sneaking him in against LHP on occasion.

But Trout is out, so getting Adell is off the table. I was not expecting Steer to be the semi-regular LF, but he's been better defensively than I would have thought, learning on the job. And thus far has no significant L/R splits. Neither does Friedl.

I think the OF is settled for 2023. 5 guys getting PT. So it may be that the Reds are not really targeting any minor league talent now.

    Which is weird. Certainly unfamiliar.
