    Progress.
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

Does someone need to be taken off the 40 man or is there an open spot?
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

They’ll need to move someone, probably Votto to the 60-day.

Outstanding news! Welcome the majors Matt McLain!

(Excited to read all the posts whining that he was called up too soon if he starts off hitting .150)

I’m already mad about people saying he’s good if he hits over .300.

Barrero is either going to be playing more CF or he's headed to Louisville. I could see them keeping Newman in a bench utility role, but they may want regular ab's for Barrero. I'd probably just cut Newman send Barrero down and call up McLain and Elly with Senzel going to CF.

There are 2.6 million reasons why they will not cut Newman. It could be Barrero or maybe even Ramos who gets sent down.

Edit: Probably keeping Ramos and Barrero and putting Friedl on the IL

These national sportswriters show off how clueless they are about minor league players when they go off and misspell their names like this:

Reds are promoting to the majors Matt McClain, top infield prospect, tomorrow @ByRobertMurray on it

Reds call up prospect Matt McLain

Since the Cincinnati Reds drafted shortstop prospect Matt McLain in the first round of the 2021 MLB Draft, the front office has moved him through the farm system as quickly and as aggressively as any position player prospect over the last decade.

Now, the Reds will have one of the youngest shortstops in MLB and a key piece of their young core in the every day starting lineup.

The Reds plan to call up McLain on Monday, a source confirmed to The Enquirer. As the Reds look to build around a young core of players in MLB, McLain represents the first of their young prospects to make it to the big leagues.

McLain will be one of the youngest shortstops in MLB. McLain, 23, was hitting .346 entering Sunday. He improved his approach at the plate, hit for more power and showed his value defensively as he earned his way to MLB.

McLain was thriving in Triple-A alongside Elly De La Cruz and Christian Encarnacion-Strand. The Reds have historically almost always given every day playing time when they've called up a prospect, and McLain is expected to be a regular going forward.

Barreo has an option, my guess is Friedle is IL bound and Jose will play some CF

Just a solid professional ballplayer. He should be a fixture in the lineup for the next 10-12 years.

    @CharlieG__

Matt McLain will be the seventh-youngest shortstop in MLB.

He only played in 172 minor league games, but he impressed the front office since the day the Reds drafted him with his poise and his feel for the game.

    “He’s a baseball rat.”
