How could I leave this one off- and this performance of this is just unreal- The Last Song.

I loved it so much I paid my piano teacher to transcribe this note for note lol

The album version is great; I like this better.

And when he dies Im going to curl up in a ball and cry for two weeks.

Of his post 1970s stuff, I have a soft spot for Sacrifice, no idea why.
His music has been front and center the soundtrack of my life since the early seventies. He's had hits in pretty much every decade from the seventies til the present. I can't remember a time when I wasn't playing an EJ song.

I like Sacrifice, also. Harmony and SSMLT are both dandies, as well.

If you think EJ and country music is an odd pairing, it's really not when you consider that Elton, as a teenager playing the pubs in England, sang primarily Jim Reeves'songs. Here's Elton at the Grand Old Opry house performing "He'll Have to Go."

Another country-tinged song from his Peachtree Road LP :

Elton was a huge Tammy Wynette fan and recorded this beautiful duet with the country queen about four years before her death.

    Elton's tribute to Wynette :

Country Elton with Earl Scruggs on banjo. Delightful version of Country Comfort.
