Elton is one of the artists when I am in a funk I can turn on and after a few songs my mood starts to change.

    Songs that I love:

Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding (opened with this the last 2 times I've seen him live) CHILLS
    Friends
    Grey Seal
Philadelphia Freedom (being from Philly I can't hate it)
    Crocodile Rock
    Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters

I've seen him 5 times solo at the Spectrum and Wells Fargo Center(I won't go through the name list) and once with Billy at Veteran's Stadium in Philly.

In 1975, when I visited my Cousin in Minnesota I gave her for her 16th birthday "Captain Fantastic & the Brown Dirt Cowboy". Later in life she married a man with the last name of Elton.

BTW, CFATBDC is such an epic album, both for its music and the album's artwork. What a masterpiece of creativity and genius craftsmanship !!!!

"ROY ROGERS" (from Goodbye Yellowbrick Road)

Love that song. Heard it once under the influence of some strong mind altering substance and the song has stayed with me ever since. Could never tell if that was a pedal steel guitar played by Davey Johnstone in it or some other guitar.

It sounds kinda like a slide guitar but I believe Davey is playing a steel guitar and using a volume pedal. Same thing for "I Feel Like a Bullet," another great song.

I think this was one of the best love songs from the last half of his career.

And when he dies Im going to curl up in a ball and cry for two weeks.

Of his post 1970s stuff, I have a soft spot for Sacrifice, no idea why.

I know why, because it’s a beautiful song. I also enjoy the way he turns “Sacrifice” into a four-syllable word.

I could write an essay here, and Ill spare everyone, but for as much as I love Nirvana, Zeppelin, the Stones-

There is nothing like Elton John.

In the early 90s, Elton came to the Coliseum with Ray Cooper and at the time- I didnt know who Ray Cooper was....

And there was no opening act if I remember- Elton came on, played an acoustic set- and Im telling you midway through a song...Ray Cooper appeared from the darkness of the stage amd the hair on my arms stood
up...oh man. He was playing a gong. A gong! It was the best concert Ive ever seen, oh...just goose bump after goose bump.
