Just picked up a couple of days ago Elton's John's appearance on "The Muppet Show".

Did you ever see him on SOUL TRAIN ? I think he might have been the first white artist to appear on that show.

I saw Elton in ‘89 or ‘90 during his Sleeping With the Past tour. It was just a couple of years after he’d had surgery on his vocal cords and his voice sounded better than ever. The man knows how to put on a show.

    A few of my favorites:

    Funeral/Love Lies Bleeding
    Grey Seal
    Sacrifice
    Nikita
    Levon
    Sad Songs
    All the Girls Love Alice
    Philadelphia Freedom

Rich throwing out some Old School Elton with "Grey Seal." Love it!

Re: Elton John: Your Personal Favorites

An old favorite. This one you'll never hear on the radio. From "Don't Shoot me..." After listening to this song, the chorus stays in my head for days. It's haunting. In this video, the lovely song is paired up with clips from the 1966 movie, "This Property is Condemned," starring a young Robert Redford and a lady who I think is one of the most beautiful women to ever grace the planet, Miss Natalie Wood. A hauntingly beautiful and sad Elton tune and the strikingly beautiful and tragic, Natalie Wood--- a perfect pairing! Enjoy!

We saw John at the Verizon Center in DC at the beginning of hos farewell tour which was just before the pandemic. It was a good show but I think age had made him less showy on stage. Still it was good seeing him as I had always like his music.

Just a few of my favorites from him:

    Rocket Man
    Crocodile Rock
Don't Let the Sun Go Down n Me
Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word
    Philadelphia Freedom
    Saturday Night
    Reds Fan Since 1971

I don't know his catalog beyond the hits, but put me down for:

    Daniel
    Rocket Man
    Your Song
    Don't Go Breaking My Heart

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

My taste for Elton leans more towards his lesser known stuff. I still listen regularly to the second album of Yellow Brick Road or side two of Madman. Stuff like "This song has no title" still get me

Blessed was my mother son dance at my wedding so that holds a special place for me.

I am a big fan of his bigger hits, Tiny Dancer and Candle in the Wind are probably my favorites of his.

Saw him twice live, once in the last row at the US Bank Arena, and then with Billy Joel a few years later.

I agree. If you take a deep, deep dive into his catalog you'll find some of his best stuff. Not that the hits aren't good. They are. However, there are some real hidden gems if you look.

"ROY ROGERS" (from Goodbye Yellowbrick Road)
