    Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

    How does this happen, especially considering how little they had to pay out?

    The Reds have been on a roll the past few seasons with strong international signings. Not mention the potential goat signing of Elly for 60K. This seems like a low risk potentially high reward signing worth taking.

    Absolutely love this signing. The kid looks to have a balanced, clean delivery. Likely he'll need TJ someday, but that's not a huge worry.

    Now, I wonder if they pair this kid with Noble Meyer.

    I don't know - that's why I am not entirely for sure it is on the up and up? If it is not, I will delete the thread. But I know absolutely very very little about international signing rules so, maybe it's a thing.

    It appears they've come to an agreement but not actually signed, could be like what they do with kids from the Dominican where they're lined up well in advance but don't actually sign until the next international window opens.

    Looks legit from everything I am seeing as well...Reds had been in in him for awhile...NPB offered him more $$$(1.4) but he preferred MLB.

    @BenBadler

    The Cincinnati Reds have signed SS/CF Sheng-En Lin from Taiwan for $1.2 million.

    70 runner, good mix of hit and power from the left side. Signing as a position player, but huge arm strength (up to 99 mph on the mound) as a two-way player in high school.

    Shocked that he's being signed as a position player.

    I think I'd allow him to try being a two-way guy-- and only pitch him once a week.

    Re: Really Interesting International Reds signing expected - 17-year-old Lin Sheng-En

    Perhaps that was part of what it took to sign him. Let him be a position player and try pitching him once a week as mentioned above, re-evaluate after a season and go from there.

    For all of the (fair) complaints about the Reds major league payroll, the team has been active, aggressive and spendy in the draft and internationally.

    Hopefully building a stockpile of resources for a good run.
