“The guys we've had for the most part have been serviceable at this level.”

He definitely has the velocity as a pitcher (Wonder if EDLC could crank 99 mph fastballs if they stuck him on the mound?). In watching the kid pitch, he’s got that hitch in his delivery that probably will need to be ironed out. It could cause some injury issues later on. If he irons out that pause/kick in his delivery, it may take away some of his velocity. Not sure about his control because it appeared to me that he never actually threw a pitch in the strike zone. Hitters were wailing at pitches out of the zone. But, he’s only 17 years old and it’s obvious that the potential is certainly there.
But I’d really love to see him hit and play some defense. They signed him as a CF/SS. You have to think that the scouts are seeing some good things there that causes them to think that he can excel as a hitter. Can’t wait to see them bring him to the States and see what he can do in the ACL.

I assume he will show up in the complex league in the next week or so, any word on where/when he reports?
Posting in the clutch since twenty ought two.
Sounds like they are going to have him play as a position player this summer, then start to work with him as a pitcher after that. He wants to be a two-way player, and the Reds are going to go down that avenue with him, at least for awhile. There’s mention of him possibly developing as a reliever while still hitting.

Missed this thread the other day, very interested in this signing.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
Looks like a fun signing but I don't get too interested in 17 yr olds. Let's see how he's doing in 3 yrs
I love how the Reds are finding young talent. EDLC was 16 when the Reds signed him. Colier did the Harper thing and the Reds drafted a 17 year old kid that played in the Cape Cod league.
All will struggle. EDLC didn't really struggle, but most prospects are not unicorns.
Lin Sheng-En might be another one though.
Dubito Ergo Cogito Ergo Sum.
Yeycol Soriano just hit his 6th double of the season in 3+ games (18 PA).
Sorry. I posted this in the wrong thread.

If Yeycol were from Taiwan like Sheng-En Lin, I think Yeycol would be pronounced “Way-Cool”.![]()
