Huge day for in the DSL for #Reds 17-year old catcher Alfredo Duno. He belted his first professional home run and also doubled.
He’s hitting .444 with a 1.212 OPS and 3 BB/3 K in 22 plate appearances.
Yeycol Soriano doubled for the 7th time.
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

They pulled Levi Stoudt after 2 scoreless innings on just 34 pitches.
Tony Santillan came on and worked a scoreless frame.
Noelvi Marte started a rehab assignment out in the desert. He singled and walked in three trips to the dish.

Reds prospect Christian Roa polishes off five scoreless by striking out the side to finish with 8 K's for Double-A Chattanooga

Christian Roa has had a fascinating season. His first four starts were horrid-- 16 ER in 12.1 IP. His next three starts, he doesn't give up anything in 15 IP. His next 14.2 innings, he coughs up 12 runs. Now, he's on his second multiple start clean streak-- this one 11 innings (so far).
Truly Jeckyll and Hyde.
I still think he's a legitimate relief prospect. He's only just turned 24. Among he, Stoudt, and Boyle, I believe the Reds should have multiple late-inning relief arms available as early as next season. (Not that all three should be converted now-- they'll want to keep at least one of them in a starter's role as a depth piece behind Greene, Abbott, Lodolo, Ashcraft, Williamson, Lively, and whomever they bring in as a free agent.)
Rece Hinds' last month in Chattanooga: .302/ .347/ .640/ .987
Half of those walks have come in the last 7 days. That's to go against the 32 Ks in 95 PAs in that span.
Right now, he's Aristides Aquino Lite, but the kid (still 22) has an outside chance at being (much) more. He is, at least, trending in the right direction.

Here is the weird thing about Hinds, he is quick to the ball and his swing is relatively compact. He has a little bit of a Mo Vaughn upper cut going but overall it’s not a swing like an Austin Hendrick where it’s really long and a good fastball is past you before you uncoil it. I have not seen him much but I would be curious what he struggles with.
He is a rule 5 guy after this year. At the point I would bring him up to AAA so he is looking at normal spin pitching and determine if he has figured something out or a case of a blind squirrel finding a cluster of nuts

This could be Hinds' first healthy season. It takes time to catch up to, and possibly surpass, the level of competition.
Very encouraged by what I'm seeing. The approach is mainly center and right center, and the power is probably close to 80 grade. If he can make a bit more contact and walk more, he could be a beast. In GABP, an absolute monster.
Excellent athlete. Great RF arm. Looks like he keeps himself in very good shape. Still only 22....

DSL Reds remaining hot. They're up, 8-1 on the DSL A's in the top of the 7th inning.
Yeycool Soriano has a hit, of course, but it's other guys who are carrying the offensive load today.
It might be time to get a bit excited about Yael Romero. He's a 17-year-old from Mexico who's been a fixture on the international scene for a few years now. Dude's knocking the snot out of the ball so far in limited PAs in the DSL.
Alfredo Alcantara is another 17-year-old who's hitting well. He's 2-2 so far today, with three runs scored and the first HR of his professional career.

DSL Reds end up scoring 20 today. They win by a cool 19.
Soriano had two hits. He's up to .390 and a 1.100 OPS. One of his hits was a 3B.
Alcantara had two hits and two walks. He scored four runs and is at .364 with a 1.280 OPS after three games. One of those two hits was a HR.
Duno went 0-2 but had 3 BBs and 3 runs scored. He's at .400 and 1.156. DHed again-- there's obviously something that's causing him issues, and whatever it is, it's not affecting his bat.
Romero had 3 hits and 5 RBI. 3 RS too. He's at .348 and 1.049. He walked once for good measure.
Guerrero had 3 H and 5 RBI.
The DSL Reds have 4 guys with OPSes over 1.000.
Oh, and to add insult to injury, their pitching was very good today as well.
Luis Morelis went the first 3 and gave up the only run. The 19-year-old has a 1.29 ERA on the season.
Andre Vasquez came next-- 2 IP and goose eggs. Two BBs blemish an otherwise pristine line. 2 K's too. That drops his ERA to 4.15. He's 17.
18-year-old Nelfri Payano went the next two, giving up 1 H and 1 BB against 3 K. He's at 3.38 on the season so far.
19-year-old Edmundo Rodriguez closed it out, finishing the last two innings. 1 H and 3 K. He's at 4.50 for the year.
