DSL Reds take their first game of the season, 9-5 over the Houston Bambinos.

Yeycol Soriano, 17-year-old CF signed out of the Dominican, enjoyed his second straight game with two hits. He also walked again, his third of the season.

Speaking of walks, 1B Yael Romero walked four times on the day.

Only six hits on the day for the young Reds, but 11 walks.

FYI: Reds prospect Noelvi Marte was placed on the 7-day IL at Chattanooga with a mild hamstring strain. It's more precaution than anything, I'm told.

Also, OF Jacob Hurtubise was promoted to Triple-A Louisville and OF Blake Dunn to Double-A Chattanooga

Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

Ricardo Cabrera so far tonight: 2-2, HR, 2B.

I suspect he's enjoying the beginning of this season more than last. He's also playing 3B (assuming the box score is correct).

Carlos Sanchez is playing SS. Yep, the guy who had an .800 fielding percentage last year at 3B is now playing SS in the ACL. Oh, Sanchez is 1-2 so far tonight.

The ACL Reds lead the A's, 6-0 in the 2nd.

There is nothing happening in Arizona tonight for the ACL Reds.

    Through five, nothing at all...

The offense seem to be OK.

I hope they keep this up all week. I'm trying to make a couple games this week out here.

No. 30 Reds prospect Tyler Callihan has an impressive day at the plate, mashing two-home runs for High-A Dayton

Again, about half a year older than Arroyo and Petty, Acuna's dominating in High-A with all the innings you could want him to provide. He'd be the best prospect in a decent Met system, fwiw, were he not dealt. (And Hector Rodriguez would be in their top five, if not top three.)
Of all the moves to rebuild the Reds, signing Naquin and then flipping him for these two gems may be the best evidence that Nick Krall knows what he is doing.

If CES can duplicate EDLC's impact when he gets here, I'll go with that trade as my favorite Krall move.

Can't help but think about this lineup when CES is up and Freidl, Votto are back.... Table setters in Freidl and McLain, getting on for the heart of this order, god damn!

    1. Freidl, CF
    2. McLain, SS
    3. India, 2B
    4. De La Cruz, 3B
    5. Encarnacion-Strand, 1B
    6. Votto, DH
    7. Steer, LF
    8. Fraley, RF
    9. Stephenson, C

My god that lineup! Good luck finding a hole!

61 for Marte?? That seems way low.
