Marte seems solid, but I never got why he is viewed as untouchable/elite.

Not a slight to him...he does seem solid across the board, just not "can't miss."

Is that Jackson Miller? Why, yes. Yes it is. Miller was a Competitive Balance pick in 2020, and has played next to not at all since. He had 7 PAs coming into the season. He is making his 2023 debut tonight for the ACL Reds.

Allan Cerda is also back in action. He is rehabbing out in the desert as well.

    Re: Midsummer Notes & Thoughts

So, we're not hearing much about Sal Stewart. He's recently been moved up to A+. The books closed on Low A with a pretty nice stat line considering where he was 8 weeks into the season. .269, .819 OPS, 10hrs, 19 doubles, 60 RBI's, 66 BB and 59 K's. 60 RBI's i n 88 games for that team the way everyone was hitting (or no hitting) early in the year is amazing actually.

We're penciling in a lot of people at 3rd for a long time but leaving him out of the conversation. He's moving pretty quick, is only 19 and is showing no slowing down in limited action in Dayton. If you project these on even a conservative trajectory he could be the best player for us from last year's draft.

Marte, Collier and Stewart.... one of them will need a new position or become trade bait to fill a hole elsewhere (OF?).

I think Collier will eventually move to the OF, Marte will replace India, Stewart could replace Steer in a few years.
What would you say.....ya do here?

I loved the picks of Collier and Stewart last year and they’ve done nothing to disabuse me of that.

    Hunter Greene looks ready: 5.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 9 K. 83 pitches.

Nick Lodolo looks semi-ready: 3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K. 49 pitches. Lodolo walked the first 2 batters that he faced, and then shut them down completely.

Hunter with a much better showing tonight. Not much to pick at other than 83 pitches for 5.2 innings. Velo was back up in "Hunter" range most of the night.

Lodolo was every bit as impressive in his start. Stuff was great and he was laser focused. 49 pitches through 3 with 6K's

Connor Burns is playing his 9th game of the season after being drafted in the 5th round this year. He has 7 hits, and all have gone for extra bases. 4 doubles, a triple and 2 home runs.

Nick Senzel still hasn't suited up for the Louisville Bats.

Blake Dunn hit a 2-run bomb off of my cousin last night.

I should have warned him ahead of time not to pitch to Blake but he got into trouble by walking Hurtubise ahead of him.

Still he struck out Vellojin and Hinds and the Barons picked him up in the 10th to get the win.

Louisville is playing a nooner today. They lead 4-1 on a Jason Vosler salami (12). Noelvi Marte has singled and walked in 2 trips to the dish. Half of Redszone (at the very least) can put a little pep in their step right about now. Nick Senzel is in the lineup (in right field) is 0-2 with 2 Ks. Jose Barrero is perfect in 13 steal attempts for the Bats.

To say that Tony Santillan is scuffling, would be a massive understatement. Last 3 appearances: 1.2 IP, 3 H, 10 R, 10 ER, 9 BB, 1 K. He isn't riding to the rescue any time soon.

    Ricky Karcher may be though. In August: 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K.
