High-end vets will be trickier and likely will depend on finding guys willing to sign two to three year deals. The Reds should have plenty of budget space in 2024 and 2025, but in 2026 and 2027 are going to get crunched, hard. The play is to go big money, over market even, on short term deals. The Reds have decent depth so for pitchers at least - they can take health risks, so that should help. Unfortunately, not clear which vets will bite.
They could front end a big-time free agent contract or acquire a big-ticket trade guy with a couple of seasons left. They'd still have plenty of money left for an elite, expensive shut-down reliever or two.

    That seems pretty easy, honestly.

We traded Castillo and specifically chose them in exchange for Castillo (along with Phillips). None of those three are going anywhere until they spend a couple of years in the Majors, at least.

Yeah, but the point stands. they were very specifically targeted. Trading them away is tantamount to admitting they were wrong, and they are not doing that. I also happent to agree the trade was the right thing to do.

Ricardo Cabrera is making his Daytona debut, and it has been a painful one. In 3 PAs, he has singled and been hit by a pitch twice.

No disagreement there. I liked both trades with Seattle when they were made and continue to like them.

Looks like he'd fit right in with the Reds bullpen. Does he often walk the leadoff batter in an inning?

Rueben Ibarra’s 17th Home Run of the Season and if it didn’t hit the scoreboard, it would still be going and going and going.

Callihan's hot start at AA is interesting. Down year at Dayton, but I was impressed by how he has developed athletically. Bigger, leaner and faster. He's always had the reputation of being hitterish, and he's missed a lot of time with injury, so maybe he's starting to come into his own just now, kind of like Hinds. I do think he's pretty limited defensively, though. Been confined to 2B, and I'd have thought they'd try moving him around a little. (I think he played 3B early in his career). Maybe they're just letting him focus on hitting.... Still only 23.

Callihan is a lefty bat who plays the IF positions all the reds young RH hitters play. He needs protected from Rule 5 this winter. I'd guess he'll be added to the 40 man roster. He's the kind of guy they send to the Arizona Fall League. How he does there, if they send him, may decide.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!
