I did this with McLain after 5 games, and it worked perfectly, so let’s try it with ELDC.

EDLC has a .500 OPS his last two games with 6K’s in 8 PA’s and no walks. Maybe this is why the Reds waited this long to call him up?

I’ve never seen you make the Serrano joke about anyone non-carribean.

I didn’t say the joke was off the table I was moreso just saying it was unoriginal and not funny as a result.

Not sure why so many trying to rain on the hype machine. It's fun. It's pulling people into the sport. This is a rare moment and hopefully the Reds will ride it to increased popularity and attendance at the park. Sure he's going to have bad stretches, but most will realize he's young and MLB will take adjustments. But don't dial back the fun.

The Caribbean is a big place. Pretty sure you meant Dominican. And you're right. The original joke was directed toward Aquino, who is also a Dominican who has trouble with the offspeed stuff.

It's low hanging fruit though, I admit. Although again, I wasn't aware that EDLC is Dominican. That actually makes it even lower hanging fruit I guess.

I'd say I'd be willing to run all future puns through the RedTeamGo filter before posting, but frankly, the world is already unfunny enough.

Re: Welcome to The Show Elly De La Cruz!

He's made 10 outs so far and 9 have been via K. Obviously, his start to his career is still considered really good. It might be the greatest start for anybody in history who struck out in 90 percent of their outs.

What concerns me a little is that he himself says he wants the focus more on his speed than his power and if so, he really does need to make more contact. I do not want to see what I feel we saw with Jay Bruce, a guy who came in with great hitting tools and turned into a pure power hitter.

BTW, does anybody have how his other out took place? FO, LO, PO, GO? Edited. it was his first game and he grounded out 2nd to 1st.

    ELDC started
    A+ ball: 6 for 25 with 12 K
    AA ball: 11 for 49 with 16 K
    AAA ball: 2 for 22 with 11 K

    He adjusted at every level.

The k's will affect his BA, this is a certified fact. But when he connects it will be either really hard or affected by his speed to first

He's already been working on it.

If Elly can make continuously make adjustments at the big league level the way he has at every level so far he's going to be one of the best players to ever wear this uniform. All of the tools are there including aggression. It's multifaceted talent worth paying money to go see in person. If he gets even better watch out!
