    How's the send-him-down crowd doing?

Elly De La Cruz has 8 hits, 6 runs scored, 5 walks, 3 extra base hits, 3 stolen bases, .500 OBP, 208 wRC+ in 6 games played…

I… don’t even know what to say. He’s special. #Reds
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

    Rafael Devers (2017)
    Ronald Acuna Jr. (2018)
    Yordan Alvarez (2019)
    Bo Bichette (2019)

Not a bad list to be on. Wow Alvarez is younger than I thought.

The bad news about a player this special is they aren't young forever. We all want to see them in their prime, but not past.

He’s so “must watch” exciting that we no longer even think about the pitch clock… just:

How many more hitters before Elly comes up? Are they gonna give Elly a fastball to hit….will he hit it 500 ft? Will he reach base? Will he steal 2nd? Will he steal 3rd, will he steal home? Will he score from first on a single? Will he tag from 2nd on a deep fly and score? Will a ball be hit to him making him go 100 feet to run it down? Will he get to unleash his cannon?

    And repeat for 9 innings

Elly adds another dazzling chapter to first week in Majors
Another day, another jaw-dropping performance from Elly De La Cruz.

The 21-year-old phenom, playing in just his sixth Major League game, had a pair of hits, walked twice, drove in a run and scored twice to lead the Reds to a 4-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Sunday.

But it was his sprint to home on the game-winning run in the eighth that proved to be the latest in a highlight-filled first week for De La Cruz.

I wonder what the record is for longest hitting streak to start a career?

    17

The longest streak at the start of a career, regardless of age, is 17 by Chuck Aleno of the 1941 Cincinnati Reds and David Dahl of the 2016 Colorado Rockies.

I am not one for wanting to move players from their natural position, but i can see a good reason to move EDLC to center field. The Reds seem to have a glut of talented infielders but the outfield crop seems thin. EDLC's size, arm and blazing speed scream center field to me.

I think he'll stay healthier on the INF. He's too much of a weapon to move to the OF
