Amazing the jolt this team has gotten from calling up rookies McLain, EDLC and to a somewhat lesser extent, Abbott. Truly amazing. Without those 3, I'm convinced they'd still be toiling in last place with miniscule crowds

The line-up is relentless now which is what makes it so fun, but to me the biggest change has been the drastic improvement to the defense. I'd say that is mostly due to McLain in and Barrero out at SS. That's when the turn-around began.

Great point about the improvement when McLain got called up but Barrero was a part time CF by that time. He basically moved Newman elsewhere. But, yeah, calling him and EDLC up has been a real shot in the arm for this team.

I want to see every at bat. Every time he is on base. Just waiting for exciting moments. As a relatively new reds fan, it's such a different feeling about a player than I've ever had.

They ask Joey Votto about Elly yesterday.

Joey said Elly is the best base runner, has the most power and has the strongest throwing arm of any player he has ever seen and he has seen a lot of players.

I see a home run in Elly's very near future (tonight)!

Here's Joey talking about Elly Dr La Cruz

Cincinnati Reds phenom Elly De La Cruz has become one of the most exciting players in the majors in just a short amount of time. His speed is out of this world, and he has become an everyday player for the Reds.

On Monday, veteran slugger Joey Votto made his long-awaited season debut after suffering an injury, and he hit a home run in his return. Then, he raved about what he has seen from De La Cruz, and hearing words like this from a franchise legend should be pleasing to the Reds youngster.

“He’s the best runner I’ve ever seen, and he has the most power I’ve ever seen. And he has the strongest arm I’ve ever seen. He has a chance to be something spectacular…I can not wait to see him in a Home Run Derby.”

No, no, just no. Do not encourage an all-around 5-tool player to get involved with that circus show during the all-star break. 1 and/or two things happen. Player's batting rhythm gets thrown off or they fall in love with the home run and become Adam Dunn.

I wonder if Todd Frazier hates fun.

When I'm unable to watch I have the mlb app going and gameday to follow his at bats. He's the most electric Reds talent of my life. As much as I wanna see him hit 450 foot bombs, it's the routine grounders he turns into singles that blow my mind.

You can stream the games live on Sports Surge. It’s a bit tricky at first, but you’ll figure it out.

And then somehow he ends up on third without the ball being hit into play.
