The Goodyear Blimp is chugging away at full speed in order to get there in time for the game. All 4 major networks announced plans to interrupt their broadcasts in order to televise his every at bat. Biden did call a press conference to discuss the call up but got confused and sang happy birthday to Nancy Pelosi instead.

So where’d Alpha India get traded to?
I was at that game in St. Louis. I was sitting behind the Reds bullpen in LF, talking to backup catcher Dave VanGorder, when Davis was announced as the pinch hitter. Van Gorder held up his hand, said he needed to watch this. The entire bullpen stopped talking and was laser focused on Davis’ first MLB AB.
Davis hit a hard ground ball in between the SS and 3B that Ozzie Smith made a great play on to get him out by a step. The entire bullpen was cheering, thinking it was a hit, then was deflated when Ozzie turned it into an out. One of my fondest baseball memories.

I think the Aroldis Chapman debut is probably the best comp in Reds history in the last 35-ish years.
Edit: added “in Reds history”.

I don’t know. I remember Adam Dunn putting up steroid level Bonds numbers in the minors, dominating the futures game and listening to Peter Gammons on Baseball Tonight on his debut with the old “20 years from now we will remember this was the day Adam Dunn made the majors”

Who?
j/k
I can remember seeing Dunn in Louisville as he hit two balls out of the stadium-- foul-- down the LF and RF lines. The one down the RF line was positively Ruthian. He didn't have the K issues while in the minors and was far more a high-BA guy who could hit 35 HR rather than the 40+ HR, low average guy he ended up being. (He was absolutely ruined after he got to the majors, IMO.)

It's finally Elly De La Cruz day in Cincinnati
continue reading:It's finally Elly De La Cruz day in Cincinnati on Tuesday after the Reds called up their top prospect from Triple-A Louisville ahead of a three-game series vs. the Dodgers.
You likely have questions. These are hopefully the answers you're seeking.
The moment you've all been waiting for.
What position will De La Cruz play?
De La Cruz's best position is shortstop and it's the one he prefers to play. However, he has also spent time playing third base, including this season at Louisville, and he'll make his big league debut at the hot corner, batting cleanup. With his speed and arm, there is a possibility that he could one day see time in center field, but that isn't a likely priority.
Why is this happening now?
First, his numbers show that De La Cruz is ready. He batted .297/.398/.633 with 12 home runs and 36 RBIs in 38 games at Louisville this year while regularly scorching baseballs at elite exit velocities at or above 116 mph, which only a few Major League players have done.
A roster spot was opened for De La Cruz to be promoted when third baseman/outfielder Nick Senzel went on the 10-day injured list with a right knee injury.
Will he play every day?
It's hard to imagine a scenario where De La Cruz isn't regularly in the lineup. When the Reds call up elite prospects, they get to play. The most recent example is shortstop Matt McLain, the Reds’ No. 5 prospect and No. 90 overall. McLain has been out of the lineup for just one game since his May 15 promotion.

“The guys we've had for the most part have been serviceable at this level.”
Sucks, was hoping to see him once in the minors.
