    Is he the one who used to throw a flame in the 1970s or was that another Shiek?

    That was the Original Sheik a.k.a. Ed Farhat who mainly wrestled out of Detroit.

    Oh No one of my favorite Twitter reads! If you have a chance they recently did a biography of Sheik and it really is eye opening.

    Heels don't get enough credit. MSG was molten for Hogan to beat the Sheik when he dropped the belt.

    Bill Simmons says the Iron Sheik was the 2nd greatest heel after Piper. Interesting- I think the bad man from Borger Texas would like a word. Also Bruiser Brody. Steele. Slaughter. Was New Jack a heel? The original sheik, and of course Rude.
    No disputing Roddy as # 1. Although he went back and forth so much it was hard to keep track.

    Always felt the Iron Sheik, as great as he was, was a bit of a cartoon. Got the feeling that Hansen and Brody weren't acting. Feel the same way about Lesnar.

    Flair has to be number one. No disrespect to Piper-- he was an icon-- but Flair's ability to generate heat is, IMO, unmatched.

    Put me down for Rowdy Roddy Piper. His Piper's Pit segments are legendary.

    Great short Sheik story from a local sportswriter - https://twitter.com/Sean_McAdam/stat...28703818485779.

    @Sean_McAdam

    One day, in the late 80s or early 90s, I was walking to a restaurant in downtown Providence. A beat-up Oldsmobile sedan pulled up and the driver asked for directions to the Civic Center. And that was my sole interaction with @the_ironsheik.

    Flair was great, but the Legend was the greatest, nobody could generate heat like the Sheik. What a life, Olympic wrestler, personal bodyguard for the Shah of Iran, U.S. olympic and college wrestleing coach, and a all around great guy, Watch the bootcamp match with Sgt Slaughter, just pure blissful mayhem
