After only 48 Professional Games played going into this season. He's got Star written all over him.

I think so too. The Reds need someone besides TJ who can play CF on the MLB roster. At this point Dunn would only have to beat out Fairchild for that role.

I don’t think the Reds will move him straight from AA just to let him be the short side of a platoon. More likely he starts in AAA and comes up if there is an injury, a player not performing or maybe after the trade deadline

Depends on who they bring in and who gets traded. If next year is about winning then put the best 26 players on the opening day roster.

In my opinion, if the role is only going to provide 250 PAs of opportunity and you're debating between a player who projects to produce 1.75 WAR per 500 PA and a player who projects to produce 2 WAR per 500 PA but you also believe could benefit from further development in the minors, you go with the slightly inferior player. It's a difference of .125 WAR over the course of 250 PAs and it will likely be outweighed by the increased long-term return of fully developing the player.

I think that's the strategy the best organizations employ, even if they view themselves as a contender.

If Jacob Hurtubise performs as well in the AFL as he did this season in AA and especially in his short time in AAA, he's going to get protected on the 40-man. At that point, he's the short-side platoon guy who can also play CF (perhaps in place of Fairchild).

    (Or they could keep Senzel...)

Senzel didn't play any CF the last two months of the year. I think that ship has sailed.

    Re: AA player Blake Dunn

Jake Dunn was named to the All-MiLB Prospect 1st Team per Redsminorleagues.com: https://www.redsminorleagues.com/202...pect-1st-team/

In all, he would play 124 games in the regular season after having just 48 games under his belt in 2021 and 2022 combined. Dunn made up for lost time as he hit .312/.425/.522 in his 559 plate appearances. He put up that slash line while hitting 17 doubles, 5 triples, and 23 home runs. Dunn also stole 54 bases.

Five things to know about Blake Dunn:

The Cincinnati Reds promoted outfield prospect Blake Dunn from High-A Dayton to Double-A Chattanooga in June.

In 357 plate appearances with the Lookouts, Dunn hit .332 with 15 home runs, 52 RBIs, 35 stolen bases and an OPS of .989, earning him the 2023 Southern League batting title.

Add his stats with the Dragons earlier in the season, which included eight homers and 19 stolen bases, and he's in rare company with 23 HRs and 54 SBs.

He's one of only five players in the past 30 years with 20-50 seasons in the minors. Andruw Jones achieved the feat in 1995 and '96; Anthony Volpe in 2022; and Dunn, Ryan Bliss and Jonatan Clase this season.

BA had some nice things to say about Dunn as a prospect.

JJ Cooper seems to like he, Lowder (a bunch), and Sal Stewart.

He does not like Cam Collier at all.

Interesting read about Collier. Guys typical do not get "more athletic" as they get older. Sounds pretty damning.

I've been trying to tell people Lowder helping the Reds in 2024 is reasonable. I think if no outside additions were made and they gave him a chance to make the big club out of ST he could do it. Collier looked a little heavy to me last year so maybe that's something they can work on going forward. I still think he's going to hit.
