This was the one that came to my mind first.

The one REO Speedwagon AOR Hit in which Kevin Cronan didn't sing lead. This Time, it's Bass player Bruce Hall.

Kelly Groucutt had a somewhat similar voice to Jeff Lynne, so it wasn't entirely obvious when he would get the chance to sing lead

Not Cetera, not Kath but Robert Lamm singing lead on one of Chicago's biggest early hits, Saturday in the Park.

Most people think of Ric Ocasek as the "face" and voice of the Cars but Benjamin Orr got us all going with "Let's Go."

Maurice steps out of the shadows of brothers, Barry and Robin , to sing lead on the Bee Gees song, Man in the Middle.

For the uninitiated, he also sang “Drive,” which I think ultimately became their biggest hit, and “Just What I Needed” which was my personal favorite

Squeeze created a predicament for their future live shows when they enlisted a non-member of the band to sing “Tempted.”

One of my favorite Queen tracks, with Brian May singing lead.

.38 Special's "Second Chance" comes to mind. It was their lead singer at the time, but he replaced Don Barnes, who sang all the good stuff that came before.

    And "Drive" by The Cars.

Blue Oyster Cult "(Don't Fear) The Reaper"

I didn't know that. Is there a story behind this?

I'll counter that Benjamin Orr sang more leads than we remember
