It was worded "11th Reds pitcher ". I took that to mean 11 pitchers as in 11 different pitchers.
I think you are correct. I don't want to be an old curmudgeon, but you see a lot of bad writing these days. That's not to say Charlie Goldsmith is a bad writer (nor the rest of the article), but I don't think articles are generally well written or edited these days. OK, OK. I'm an old curmudgeon.
