It's sounds like maybe your problem with a Springsteen show would be the Springsteen part.
? No, I just dont like covers when I pay money to see a band. Pearl Jam will cover The Who but not play Black, that is awful.

Afghan Whigs at Bogart's winter of 93. Utterly locked in, height-of-their-powers type of performance.

GBV/Pavement at Southgate House, May of 94--GBV played Pavement off the stage.

Black Flag at The Jockey Club in Newport 86: Full scale dopesmoker Sabbath sludge

GBV/Breeders in Dayton (Hara Arena, maybe?) 94? 95? Took my future wife to that show.

Sebadoh/Rodan at some hole in the wall in Dayton 95: Rodan was mesmerizing

Neil Young and Booker T. and MGs in Atlanta summer 93 or 94, my memory is slipping.

Slayer in 87 in Detroit. I have no memory of the club's name.

I used to hang out in the same group of people with the lead singer's son of Guided By Voices at U of Dayton - he was such an a-hole. His dad showed up a party once, was really cool. His son was nothing like him.

With that said, I just do not get it with Guided By Voices.
