Not enough talk about Christian Encarnacion-Strand IMO

All this guy does is mash. Even before spring training this year, that was his reputation.

Then he goes out in ST and tears it up. Was just destroying pitchers every day. Then ends up getting hurt toward the end of spring training and had to put his minor league season on hold for about a month.

Then goes to Louisville and puts up an OPS over 1.000 with 20 HRs. At the age of 23.

Gets the promotion to Cincinnati ... and hits 13 HRs and records an OPS above .800.

This kid is a stud. And he's no slouch defensively at 1B. He's not even bad at 3B, but 1B will obviously be his position. He will also fill-in at 3B perhaps at times ... and he will definitely DH at times.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand is going to be a star in MLB, IMO.

He’s still 3rd on my all time Reds Encarnacion list, but is climbing that ladder rapidly

As a 3rd baseman, E-5 was an excellent DH

Fans here wanted to trade CES for a middle aged reliever and I was one of the only people to say we should keep CES. I’m glad Krall listened to me and not the other posters here.

This board really needs a laugh emoji. No one was saying CES for some rental reliever.

I wanted to trade him for Larry Sanders.

Gonna throw this out there, like a fart in the elevator.

CES averaged a BB every 17.2 PA, that's roughly 32 for every 550 PAs, in his college and minors career combined he's at 12.1, 45 BB for 550 PAs. Lower end is a Jorge Cantu type, higher end is Geoff Jenkins type.

He's gonna have to battle that part of his game

Unless we are trading away a veteran star, I think the Reds need to completely abstain from the trade game. Not every month is October and not every fan of the team loves to be scared.

His EV is over 90 (as a rookie) and has a very low GB rate. He’s hit for elite averages at every level of baseball we have public stats for. I agree the low walk rate isn’t ideal, but if he mashes when he makes contact, all he really needs to do is cut that K% down below 25% or so. He has 70 power IMO.

I think he can be an earlier-blooming Adolis García with better bat-to-ball skills. I think he’s a .270/.320/.500 guy to whom you can set your watch to 35 homers and 100 RBI.

Im higher on McLain and (maybe) Marte, but I like CES a lot.

I predict he is going to be next years offensive MVP, for the Reds
