Reds writer from FoxSports should have chosen a Red with his third place pick.

If you gave McClain,... Steer's and Elly's votes, he'd still finish 5th by a large Margin.

Steer's the one who got disrespected here. As good as McLain was, he didn't start the year with the Reds and his season ended early with injury. Steer was there the whole time and should have been 3rd, in my opinion.

    And, then there's Abbott.

Could it be that with three Reds in the top 9 that they split the vote? Also, Steer is underappreciated even on his own team. The others get all the attention and praise but Steer just goes out there and gets the job done without a lot of flair.

I am just happy that the Reds kids are still mostly out of the spotlight, apart from EDLC, so they can develop further next year without the added pressure. India went from RoY to feeling he had to be the veteran on the team almost overnight.

Steer doesn’t have a good defensive reputation.

That likely hurts him in some of these votes.

He doesn’t even have a regular defensive position, also probably hurts him.

I don't think he would have won without the other Reds in the mix but I think he would have finished higher.

Man do we have some homers.

Nolan Jones had a .395 wOBA. He hit .297/.389/.542. He also stole 20 bags. Yeah, in Colorado. But McLain got to play in Cincy.

Steer had very solid, but not elite rate stats and is a poor defender.

We can nitpick if we want, but that order strikes me as entirely reasonable.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

In two years, RedsZone will be ready to ride at least three of these rookies out of town on a rail.

Happy to have three near the top of the list. Add Abbott and CES, as well as others, and hopefully a few key pieces this offseason, and let's have some fun in '24.
