Re: 2024 Cincinnati Bengals: Bounce Back?

If they're going to spend any serious money on the Offensive Line, I'd love to see them use it at Center and add Connor Williams, an elite C, on a 4-year contract. Move Karras over to LG for his last season, and they'll have an elite O-Line no matter who they place at RT (they have options, especially if Sample plays TE next to the RT).

I forgot about Connor Williams terrible knee injury. A Drew Rosenhaus client, it's likely he won't sing a contract until he proves he's healthy sometime during the middle of next season. So, it's a long rehab for one of the best Center's in the NFL, who will still only just turn 27 going into the season. That's a pretty risky free agent signing, and a path the Bengals probably won't take on a Rosenhaus client.

That's the problem with "specialists". The other team always knows what's coming, based on who the specialist is.

Almost as dumb as when they tried only running the ball when Burrow wasn't in shotgun.

I swear, they are going to ruin Burrow if they don't stop clowning around with these half measures.

They STILL don't have both sides of the line shored up, they STILL have a ton of cap space according to everyone except bengals.com, and they are just about out of time to do anything about it outside of the draft.

They better hope they hit big in the draft. Otherwise, this #31 defense looks even worse on paper now than they did last season.
I believe there is a special place in hell for people that buy entities that others "root for" and treat it like any other regular business from a profit/loss standpoint.

With your knowledge of the Pac, what's your opinion of Jackson Powers Johnson?

I like the idea of giving Burrow his next center for a decade and moving Karras to guard. Plus it likely negates the Steelers who would probably be picking him if he falls.

Zach Frazier is another center but JPJ seems like this years Frank Ragnow to me.

Just to add some clarity, they have the fourth best odds of winning the Super Bowl, and it went from16-1 to 12-1 Do you understand the concept of two tight end sets. It is like some people don’t watch football. We had Irv Smith last year and we get a guy who separates, runs a faster 40 than Tyler Boyd and yet the world is ending. Some people complain just to complain.

Just shoring up the safety play to limit explosives makes the defense better. And Rankins gives them a better interior pass rush. It's not a good defense right now, but I expect it to be closer to 20 than I do 31. They still need a warm body at NG and another outside corner.

They have to start hitting some drafts or free agency won't matter, anyway.

Trent Brown plus a RT at #18 and they'll win a Super Bowl this year. All Joe needs is a good line with depth.

Id take JPJ if he's there. I know they'd have to eventually take a tackle but this would be the line:

    LT: Orlando Brown
    LG: Ted Karras
    C-Jackson Powers Johnson
    RG-Alex Cappa
    RT-Trent Brown

I don't think they want to move off of Karras at C though, they had all last year to do it and didn't. All the beat writers have said they were happy with Volson's progress down the stretch. I do like Powers Johnson but I think they draft a tackle Day 1 and a guard on Day 3.

Awesome move especially considering how good he played last season for the Pats. Good fit for what the team likes to do overall.

Sounds like Trent Brown on a one-year deal. I agree with Redfaithful in that they probably still take a RT at 18 but now they don't have to if someone unexpected drops to them. But my guess as of today is RT in the first round and WR in the second round.

Still need another corner and at least one nose tackle.

I think it’s good. Whoever they draft at T will not have to be ready immediately but would not be surprised if he was.

Tried a draft idea with news of this signing. Traded Higgins to the Giants for #47 and a day 3 pick. Then took WR Johnson at #18, and used #47 and another pick to trade up with Arizona to get #35 and take Guyton. Sweat was there at #49, so took him as well. That's a solid top 3 selections.

What pick was your "another pick"?
