I have to read the lines 2-3 times. Then the melody sets in and I start singing the song and get to the chorus to remember the title.

Way back in the day, I met a girl at a rock club and one thing led to another. The next morning, we start telling life stories and she says the highlight of her last year was balling the bass player from Brownsville Station. I went home and took a long shower.

I just caught up to this thread. It's really a different way to experience those songs. You can hear those lines being sung, but you can't hear them being spoken -- or even read. So I have to translate the words in my head and convert them to some kind of melody. By that time, I forgot what I was trying to achieve.

I love good lyrics. Having said that, the words don't have to be profound for me to enjoy a song. As long as it makes me feel good or brings back some nice memory from childhood, a song is worthwhile. But a great song that marries great words and music is just the best.

Seems like our boy, Roy, was a bit hit with the ladies back in the day. Here's to you, Roy:
