    * Emilio Pagan “good to go” for tonight

    * Jake Fraley “still pretty stiff” will monitor closely next couple days

    * Nick Lodolo extended bullpen today. If groin responds well, on track for Monday activation

So with Fraley not able to go the Reds play shorthanded again..

What should they do instead? Wait it out or recall a chump ML and lose Fraley for a week and a half?

Since heís been out several days now, could they back date the injury and only lose him for about a week from today? Not sure how that works

Several? He was hit 36 hours ago, he did not break a bone.

Again who are you calling up?

Bingo, the Reds really needed to get some OF depth in ML and a dance partner for Will Benson, who can't hit LH's at all and IIRC I spent all last year reading post after post banging on Bell for platooning him, which gosh darn it was completely the right choice to make

I have know idea how long it will be before he can hit EFFECTIVELY with his injury, but if itís going to be a week or more, maybe call up a RH hitting outfielder. I know pickings are slim, but itís better than playing short handed for another week.

So you don't know a thing about his injury but you're willing to sit him for a week and call up a player you don't know anything about?

    Seems like a bad plan

But 5 out of 8 starters out for significant time, that’s hard to overcome. Without the depth they do have, this season could be even more brutal at this point. While I was one of the guys touting the depth, I wanted more in CF. No reasonable cover for Friedl. And I wanted another legit back of the pen arm.

They clearly didn't. Look at the ILs of every other team in MLB. The Reds are not extraordinary.

Never said that. I said if he sits for a week or is going to be completely ineffective for a week, then it makes more sense to call up a fresh body like Dunn or Capel.

    Re: 2024 Reds Injury Updates

The Orioles made another move today that was almost 100% roster space driven.

I know Krall is aware of the market but I'll keep beating this drum here anyway just in case he's reading: look to Baltimore for a trade partner. They have a lot of near MLB ready guys and no space on the 40 man for them. The Reds have a bunch of guys down below AA and a wasteland of position talent above that. There is a natural fit there.

5 starters out. 2 of them your highest WAR players from last year out totally and other out most of the time. That’s pretty extraordinary especially in combination with the other 3 starters missing time. Quit being an insufferable Richard. More than half the starters are out. 2 have not played at all, one has barely played, one was likely playing hurt when he did. The team had depth, but everything has a threshold before it’s not enough. They had enough to replace 2 maybe 3 starters, which is really good depth. But 5…especially when 2 are your likely highest WAR players. That’s hard to overcome. You realize this…anyone with a functional brain should…but would never admit to it in a post or play all or nothing games instead of looking at reasonable thresholds that depth could overcome.
