I know most people are well aware that George Foster in 1977 set the club record which still stands for HR at 52 - here was his stat line that year - (6-year-old me vividly remembers wanting a black bat soooooo badly) -

.320/.382/.631 for a 1.013 OPS. The aforementioned 52 HR. 149 RBI. 124 R. 388 Total Bases. The HR, RBI and Total Bases are all club records.

I remember it well. That was one heckuva a season. Every time he came to bat you were expecting a HR. No doubt the single greatest season I have witnessed as a Reds fan.

Speaking of relievers, Danny Graves was always interesting to me as this is when I was really starting to follow the Reds closely.

How about his batting lines in 2000 and 2001

2000 - .500/.667/2.000/2.667 with a HR and a walk in 3 plate appearances.
2001 - .250/.250/1.000/1.250 again with a HR in 4 plate appearances.

Another fun fact. Both his homers came against the Astros in Houston

Senior year in HS me on my way to college and then entering college me in 1988 was SO SO SO mad at Orel Hershiser for his ridiculous scoreless innings streak and overall excellence because in many other years Jackson would have won the Cy Young. Just not that year.

That was the greatest Reds pitching season I have ever seen. He was totally dominant that year. 23 wins is really amazing in just about any era of baseball. Just too bad that Hershiser had that streak because there was no way he wasn't getting the Cy Young after that.
