    Major Bridge in Baltimore Collaspes

A huge container ship crashed into the Frances Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore about 1:30 this morning. The bridge just crumbled into the bay. I am watching WBAL out of Baltimore and its unreal. It looked like something you would see in a movie. Not much word on any fatalities. It's just getting daylight so we will be able to see more as the day goes along.

How drunk was the master of the vessel?

There are reports of black smoke before the collision. There might have been a mechanical failure that caused it

Vessel was on fire, lost power, and drifted into the bridge it appears.

Also, apparently the Port of Baltimore has expert pilots that actually are the ones in charge of taking the vessel out to the Chesapeake. The Captain of the vessel would have relegated authority at that point.

(I don't know anything about all this. Just repeating what I've seen knowledgeable people say on other sites.)

The bridge might have been closed to traffic. Word is they were doing some construction work, so there were only construction workers. Original number I saw was 20 missing. Latest I've seen is 2 people have been rescued so far, with at least 7 still missing.

It's been years, but I have traveled that bridge a few times. Easier to take the McHenry tunnel, instead.

They are still searching for six construction workers who were basically fixing potholes on the bridge when this happened.

The ship apparently lost power and the crew had notified authorities just before it hit the bridge.

There is a live web cam of the bridge that shows the accident:

Currently it is back about 8:50 hours. (1:28:40 am) It will time out at some point soon. You can see traffic on the bridge prior to the collapse.

I dont want to bring this up, but you know Joe Biden was the Senator from Delaware...which is next to, you guessed it: MARYLAND.

    Connect the dots, sheeple.

Apparently the ship sent a mayday, which was picked up by the bridge operators who were able to shut down the bridge prior to the collision. That, and time of day are why there were so few people who went into the water.

    Wow.

I’m amazed as well how there’s video cameras everywhere these days to show stuff like this.

Just speculation by me, but I’m guessing there are traffic cams that are even more harrowing.
