I'm not going to continue to complain about it, but I think Steer is one of the Reds best overall hitters and shouldn't be hitting that low.

    He's not against RHP

    Career vs RHP

    India 256/352/434 785 OPS 1192 PA
    Benson 283/370/505 875 OPS 352 PA
    CES 264/313/506 818 OPS 195 PA
    Candelario 234/322/404 726 OPS 2263 PA
    Fraley 259/351/459 811 OPS 795 PA
    Elly 254/327/470 797 OPS 315 PA
    Steer 249/341/415 756 OPS 580 PA
    Martini 295/385/473 858 OPS 369 PA
    Stephenson 262/338/402 740 OPS 776 PA

Candelario is the one really out of place, but I'm pretty sure him batting in the middle of the lineup is the cost of doing business with a free agent.

He wouldn't even be on this team if Friedl, McLain and Marte were all playing.

Their best hitter so far this season-- Martini-- is hitting in the 8th spot.

I could be wrong but I think this has more to do with being the best guy to give protection to ELDC than it does with anything else.

1st thing I thought of on OD.

Bell is being consistent against RHP.

Agreed...I'd definitely flip Candelario (batting 4th) and Steer (batting 7th).

Could it be an attempt to get EDLC better pitches?

EDIT: I see Pedro posted this already. Just to make clear, although in most situations, I follow the "What would Pedro post?" methodology, in this instance, it was my own idea.

It’s that he doesn’t hit RHP particularly well and there’s a bunch of guys on the team that do. A wonderment of riches.

Reds are scoring 6.5 runs a game to start the season. Let's try to get it up to 7 after today.
