The Cincinnati Reds called up Alan Busenitz from Triple-A Louisville on Friday. To make room for Busenitz, they optioned left-handed pitcher Brandon Leibrandt to Louisville.
Busenitz has appeared in one game for the Reds this season, giving up three runs on four hits against the Pirates on August 23.
Gibaut was activated today and Aguiar placed on the 15-day injured list, retro to 9/21, with a right elbow sprain.

Aguiar's injury is way more important news than this whole Bell charade. Another potential starter with an injury cloud hanging over his head going into 2025.
Greene, Abbott, Lodolo, Lowder and ????
Martinez?? likely gone
Williamson?? out for the year.
Ashcraft and Aguiar?? Injury uncertainty
Spiers?? Has been terrible after a brief good start.
Phillips, Petty, Acuna?? A lot of missed time and/or struggles for much of the season and probably not options for opening day.
Burns?? Hasn't thrown a professional pitch.
If they don't sign Martinez, they need to sign some one for a similar deal.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!
The missing starter will be Burns sometime next season. Reds will sign a stop gap one-year starter until Burns is ready. They’ll also sign AAA depth, though I wouldn’t be surprised if Petty gets the first call.
Aguiar wasn’t cutting it anyway. Probably wasn’t healthy. I doubt Reds were going to give him a rotation spot.
With the Bats season over, I would have been in favor of getting Connor Phillips a start for the Reds before the season ended to see where he is at opposed to another opener with Fernando Cruz. Phillips has been much better since going down to the Arizona Complex League to make the proper adjustments. Coming off 6 innings, 7 hits, 2 runs, 0 BB and 9 K's in his last start vs Omaha. 23 years old, still time for him to carve out a Major League career. May as well make the most of these games when you are eliminated and get experience to develop the younger players.

Knowing the Reds aren't going to be big time spenders on the free agent market. I can see them making a push for a veteran starter like Trevor Williams if they feel the need to fill out the rotation with someone to eat innings. Eovaldi would be a nice veteran to add to the rotation. Expected to opt out, but would be pricey. Eovaldi would bring postseason experience if the Reds do make it next year. If the past few years haven't taught them by now, having an experienced pitcher to stabilize the rotation with all of the injuries to the starters is necessary.
