Minor League Game Thread 4/26/24 FRIDAY

DAYTON - The Dragons are on the road versus The Lugnuts of Lansing.

Rhett Lowder is on the mound for Dayton, and is the beneficiary of a 3-run uprising in the top of the 1st by his Dragons teammates.

Jay Allen II led off the rally with an infield single. Hector Rodriguez sacrificed him to 2nd. Allen II was then gunned down trying to steal third.
Sal Stewart doubled and was singled home by Cam Collier who was doubled home by Carlos Jorge who was singled home by Cade Hunter. Whew. There you go - 3 run lead.

Rhett Lowder has just struck out the side on 12 pitches.

This is about what I expected Lowder to do to high A competition. 6 IP no ER 1 BB 9 SO. Maybe time for a promotion soon. Sal Stewart quietly putting up a .900 OPS. He's just going to hit and be productive it seems. Maybe another Steer type at the dish.

Sal homers so make it a .960 OPS.

LOUISVILLE - Louisville is getting whipped tonight. They trail 8-2 after 4.

Connor Phillips gets dogged again tonight. 4 IP, 11 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 2 BB, 3 K. 9.00 ERA. Not looking good in the early going for Connor.
Tyler Gilbert gives up 3 hits in the 5th, but thanks to Rece Hinds throwing 2 runners out, nobody scores.

Edwin Rios is coming off of the IL, and making his first start tonigh. He has gone deep (1). Rios has an OPS of .877 in 2000+ minor league at-bats. He has always seen parts of 5 seasons in the bigs with an OPS of .757.

DAYTON - Dayton was up 14-1 at one point, but now lead just 14-10 in the 9th as Lansing roughed up the Dragons bullpen for 9 runs in the 8th.

A forgotten about Jay Allen II seems to be finally healthy and is starting to produce. He's been pretty consistent in the lead off spot for Dayton.

Blake Dunn continues to miss games, so he must still be in the healing process, I would think.
