I've already mentioned Elton John, who has always been vehemently opposed to lip synching at live performances. Another is Roger Daltry.

Roger is now 80 years old and is still giving fans his real voice. Here's a performance of "Baba O Riley" from just a few weeks ago. The Wings of Pegasus You Tube channel has run this through the pitch monitoring software and Roger is using no autotune or pitch correction and is not lip synching. This is his real voice and , amazingly, he is still singing the song in the original key.

If I'm gonna pay 2024 ticket prices, give me a guy like Daltry who is giving fans everything he still has, without miming or vocal enhancement technology. This is how it's done, Don Henley!!! The song starts at about 2:30 of the video. Roger talks to his audience prior to that.

Not everybody is Roger Daltrey nor do they need to be. His voice still sounds good- some people's doesnt. Who cares.

I think some of our opinions are just as valid as yours. If they won稚 actually be singing, they should announce that, so someone can decide if they want to basically listen to their cd or not, for big money.

So what if they can稚 hit the same notes. They could always change the key of the song to fit their new voice or retire if the masses are expecting perfect cd like performances.

if I'm paying for tickets to see a singer, then I'm personally paying primarily to hear them sing live. Period. If I wanted to watch a performance, I'd go watch a play.

You risked career suicide if you didn't lipsync while on American Bandstand. The younger record purchasers...12-year-old girls, didn't know they were doing it anyway, so lip-syncing in that situation wasn't a bad thing.

I generally encourage folks to err on the side of caution in choosing whether or not to report something, but respectfully, you're wasting the moderators' time if this is truly the type of post you think should be reported.

It's just weird to care, that's all. IMO.

Journey fans just skewered Arenel Pineda for missing notes- you cant please the concert going crowd. Just the worst.

The fact that an audio nerd is sitting in his basement outing Don Henley like he committed a crime- for me, it is just a weird thing to do.

Exactly. I knew plenty of performers who just changed the key or whatever. Basically, unless you were playing on American Bandstand or Ed Sullivan where the sound technology just wasn't available, then real musicians didn't lip synch. If you went to see SRV, you knew he didn't lip synch.

Anyone who goes to see Journey deserves whatever they get.

The fact that an audio nerd is sitting in his basement outing Don Henley like he committed a crime- for me, it is just a weird thing to do.

The audio nerd who exposed Henley's fraud on You Tube has nearly a half a million subscribers and a big part of his channel is using technology to show whether or not performances are real or memorex. He is a big critic of pitch correction that is used badly or used when it is not really needed or, in the case of Henley, miming to backing tracks at live shows.

And what do you know, his exposing of the Eagles fraud seems to have gotten Henley to change his tune...literally. His videos of the Eagles' lip syncing went viral and the group decided to actually start singing for their paying customers . They are not faking it in Las Vegas!!! Good job, audio nerd!!! Those who pay $1,000 to see a live performance of actual live voices , thank you. Here's his latest video applying his software to a recent Eagles performance in Vegas. Henley has retired his mime act...for now.

My wife's cousin was a Journey road-crew member for many years. He's been working at Kroger for the past 27 years. I saw them Jan 1st, 1981 in Indianapolis. Had the day off and it was something to do to get away from the base.

I'd want my money back if anyone ever lip-synced. I personally don't care if they make mistakes or they don't hit a note (it's live, that's what "live" means). I do care if they aren't actually singing. I'd just as soon stay home and put on their CD and save the money.

Anyone who needs to lip-sync a live performance needs to retire already.

Most people would care less if their voice sounds different. Everybody ages and most people are OK with that. Being deceitful and dishonest about a "live" performance is not OK.
