This is what you get for liking the Eagles.

I think people who get caught up in lip syncing need a life.

I agree. I can listen to their CD in my car. When I go to a show I want to hear their vocals, even if it falls well short of what it was in 1975. I don't expect Madman Across the Water Elton when I go to an Elton show. Elton gives fans the real thing. He's not a fraud. He's nowhere close to '70 Elton but he still pretty darn good considering all the abuse his voice has taken. I'm okay with that. I don't expect Henley of '24 to be Desperado Henley of '73. Just give me whatever you still have and I'll accept it as part of the aging process. Don't pretend to still be singing like you were 50 years ago and charging me 500 bucks to play along with the charade.

Agreed.
The problem here, I'm guessing, is possibly that 2024 Live Henley may not be something that people want to pay money for.
So he has to cheat, because he still wants to make money.
And to be fair, I heard 2022 Paul McCartney sing "Maybe I'm Amazed", live and no lip syncs. I was not amazed. He's a living legend. Nothing left in the tank, vocally, that can be sustained for an entire tour.
That's ok too, or should be anyway. We all age like vinegar. But I don't think I would pay money to hear 2024 Live Paul McCartney. I definitely wouldn't pay money to watch 2024 Paul McCartney lip sync, either.
Boomers just need to wrap it up, I think. Watching 81 year old Sam Elliott beat up a bunch of 20-something ranch hands is another example. I mean c'mon... He's Sam Elliott, but Roadhouse 1985 was a long time ago. So was Hotel California.

I'm a big Beatles and McCartney fan. Grew up with them. Saw him back in 2010 in Cincy. Always loved McCartney's singing. He recently showed up at an Eagles concert at the Hollywood Bowl in April of this year and sung Let It Be (and he should have). And I've listened to him live at other venues over the last year or so. His voice is shot. Sounds terrible.

Just my personal opinion but when I go to a live show I want to hear live vocals, not vocals from a '70's greatest hits track. There's a lot of lip synching that's being done by guys like Henley, who can't hit the notes anymore. But there are a few old guys that are still giving fans their 80 year-old voice. I've already mentioned Elton John, who has always been vehemently opposed to lip synching at live performances. Another is Roger Daltry.
Roger is now 80 years old and is still giving fans his real voice. Here's a performance of "Baba O Riley" from just a few weeks ago. The Wings of Pegasus You Tube channel has run this through the pitch monitoring software and Roger is using no autotune or pitch correction and is not lip synching. This is his real voice and , amazingly, he is still singing the song in the original key.
If I'm gonna pay 2024 ticket prices, give me a guy like Daltry who is giving fans everything he still has, without miming or vocal enhancement technology. This is how it's done, Don Henley!!! The song starts at about 2:30 of the video. Roger talks to his audience prior to that.

On a slightly related note, there is a good Eagles cover band in the Greater Cincinnati are call The Eagles Project. We’ve seen them a few times at local parks and venues. Well done renditions of Eagle songs. They get a Roy thumbs up. If you get a chance to see them, I’d go.
The rose goes in the front, big guy.
And again, people who care about this stuff are turds. "Big money" is why they want to make it sound good for you. The voice is a very tempermental thing that does not always cooperate- people cant hit the high notes as they age- I guess they could quit- sure, but why?
Even people who sing live use taped vocals- it is a part of show business, take the stick out of your tail and stop acting like this is a major deal.
