I saw Janet Jackson- she lip synced some, sang real some- I didnt deserve a refund or a public apology, it didnt send me to th ebrink of wondering what has happened to the world.
That only speaks of the quality of human beings that are fans attending an Arnel Pineda concert.

I think Google AI nails it:

While there's no definitive statistic, most experts agree that a relatively small percentage of people actively care about lip syncing, with the majority of concert-goers prioritizing the overall performance experience over whether an artist is singing live or not, especially among younger audiences.
I don't have a reposnse for the "quality of human being" that goes to see Arnel Pineda- he sings for Journey, I didnt realize they attracted low life fans.

So traditionalists or older folks prefer actual singing, but the younger generation doesn稚 care as much. It痴 all in the ears of the beholder I suppose

You're the one that pointed out the "low life fans response" to Arnel Pineda.

Like anyone cares what Google AI thinks.

You're talking about rock groups, not Opera Singers or Concert Pianists. They live lives of constant abuse. They aren't participating in symphonies. They are taught to pronounce only the vowels when they sing. Enunciation is not important, and is actually discouraged. Screaming is considered art in their business. There's no perfection in their work when it's at it's best. You mentioned Janet Jackson. That's a pretty low bar.

Journey is your typical low-quality group of musicians that spends a period of time being popular with the target audience of unintelligent, musically-challenged 14-year old's. I only saw Journey because I was bored and wanted to do something on the night of Jan 1st.

There is nothing OK with lip-syncing a "live" concert. If you suck that badly and your fans are so shallow that they can't handle your aging, then you need to retire or hit the State Fair circuit.

Arnel's had a helluva tough task trying to follow in the footsteps of Steve Perry these many years. He's done yeoman's work in helping keep Journey and Perry's music alive for fans of the band. It might be just me, but if I'm paying to go see a live show, I'd rather hear a performer having a bad night but singing the best he can rather than lip synching to a pre-recorded track. Arnel's a heck of a singer. All singers have bad nights. It happens.

When Stevie Nicks stopped hitting her notes, nobody gave a crap.

That's the only way to be a fan of someone. If you see them giving it a try, that's enough. We all understand Father Time hits everyone.

Oh, believe me, Jim, you would be hard-pressed to find a bigger Fleetwood Mac & Nicks fan than me. I've been a fan since the early days. Seen them many times , live. Nicks and Buckingham took them to another level. Her voice , indeed, has a unique quality , kinda a combination of a drunk witch and an amorous chipmunk. It has has certainly worked well for Stevie and the band, all these many decades. Their voices meshed very well. Christine McVie's voice was the soul of FM for me. I listened to her, pre-Nicks/Buckingham in the Bare Trees album. Her sound defined the band for me, even after B/N joined. Christine's voice was like a warm blanket on a cold , winter night.

    Christine McVie , pre-Nicks/Buckingham:

    Butter...

    Warm blanket...cold night ...

This was always one of my favorite drunk witch, er, chipmunk... I mean, Stevie's songs with the Mac . This was back when she was on your wall, Jim. Damn, she was smokin' . She was channeling her inner Janis Joplin in this performance.

Yikes, but what I would expect from someone who demands each and every note sang live.

"I only pay my hard earned money for actual singing!"

Next it will be "for the children" lol

I have an Eagles ticket stub from 1973 (Mershon Auditorium on the OSU campus) for $3.50. Balcony seats. We did some great mushrooms.
