    Time for some changes.

I know it's early, but this team is lifeless. We are headed quickly to a 4th place finish. The hitting approach is atrocious, the lack of moves to replace Martini and Bubba are a joke. Not at least trying Ford is ridiculous. Are the Castellinis just happy to count their profits from last year? I see good pitching and Elly /Steer. Other than that I see nothing resembling a winning team right now.

Friedl has 3 doubles in 3 games in AAA.... Send Thompson down and bring him back up. It couldn't make us worse.

The Reds are cursed. They could acquire Betts, Ohtani, Freeman, and Smith from the Dodgers and still get shut out.

When Friedl is ready I would also call up whomever is performing the best between Capel and Dunn.

    Friedl & Capel/Dunn up

Bubba Martini (cool band name) down.

Just call up Capel and Dunn now and send down whichever one is struggling the most when Friedl is ready. Move Gibaut to the 60 day IL and DFA Bubba to make room on the 40 man roster.

The big thing to take from all the injuries and illnesses and guys not being productive is that if your team is in first place at the deadline but you know you need help to stay that way don’t punt and play for next year because you’re probably going to have injuries, illnesses and guys who aren’t productive.

    Carpe diem.

After a little over one month of baseball? Yeah, they are in an offensive slump. But they are stll only 4.5 games back.

We just need to get healthy, get some guys back (Friedl and Marte), that take away ABs from guys like Espinal and Fairchild.

I think some forget that this is a very young team, yes, with talented youg prospects; but still developing their skill set.

I personally don't like all the lineup juggling, prefer a more set (stable) lineup. But with all the injuries, etc, that has occurred, that's hard to do.

I'd look into how much it would cost to obtain Taylor Ward from the Angels. (Rengifo would upgrade Espinal, so if they want to package them, I'd be for that as well.)

The absence of Friedle, McClain and Marte is beginning to rear its ugly head unfortunately.

I forget who said it, but when you play bench players a lot, you are eventually reminded of why they are bench players.

No wholesale changes. Tinker with fringe players who are slumping.

Thompson will obviously go down when Friedl is back, so that's something.

One thing that is a little frustrating to me is that they knew they were heading into a very tough few weeks. They knew they wouldn't get Friedl back until mid-May or thereabouts. They knew a lot of players were dealing with some sort of 28 Days Later-like virus.

And they didn't do anything to make sure they had the best team they could reasonably have.

When I take an objective look at the Reds current position player roster, I’m not sure they are merely in a slump. I see too many guys who are not good hitters, or lack plate discipline, or have been up and down in their careers.

I feel good about EDLC, Steer, Fraley, Stephenson. Beyond that I see question marks.

So I’m not sure it’s a mere slump requiring a bit more patience. And while Friedl returns soon, Marte not until late June. And Marte is far from a given, he’s not proven much yet.

I’m concerned about this offense, I assumed they would be at least league average, but I may have given some of these guys too much credit.

Yah….time to call Friedl up. Friedl trying to work back into game shape is better than what the Reds are putting out there right now. Call him up on Monday.

If Friedl has no pain in his wrist on swings then get him up to the big leagues. The Reds are losing close games by playing guys who shouldn't be in MLB.
