I was going to guess that Justin Wilson would be the Starter and go one inning with Diaz available. Either scenario followed by Martinez.

Re: 6-11-24 Reds vs Guardians 7:10 PM

In the last 14 days, we've only had one player reach base on an error.

We match that 14-day result today by getting at least one player reaching base on an error.

Our team-speed (12 SB in 13 attempts over last 14 days) should generate more throwing errors than it has lately.

As well as we've been hitting (for us) lately, our OBP still hasn't been that impressive as a team, certainly not anything to write home about (.333 last 7 days and .348 last 14 days). We still aren't making enough contact (17BB/44K last 7 days AND 39BB/95K last 14 days). Would like to see us continue the improvement we've made in this area over the last 21 days. Dunn's ability to draw a walk helps here, while he's not a liability (actually a plus) defensively.

The bats are heating up league-wide (WHIP has improved by .025 each of the last two weeks), so our rise in hitting is just slightly better than league average. It's been our dominant pitching that has been winning all of these games over the last three weeks with the elimination of an abysmal Offensive attack. The 7-game streak produced a high number of runs per game (about 7), but our pitching continued to be dominant over that period and over the last month-plus, even when we weren't winning.

We still need better talent at 2B, 1B, DH and 1B, and some of that has already happened (with Steer playing more 1B, and the elimination of the redundancy of Nick Martini, Mike Ford and Bubba Thompson/Capel). We've still got 2+ weeks before help comes from Marte, but that should be a great help as it provides a huge upgrade Defensively AND at the plate at 2B/1B/3B/DH, raising the wrc+ results across those spots.

Friedl's quicker-than-expected quality output has been a huge lift.

Our strength will continue to be our overall pitching (a remarkable 1.190 WHIP over the last 28 days team-wide), as we just aren't allowing a lot of runners to get on base. Some of that improvement has to be the improvement Defensively of Friedl in the Outfield as that pushes Benson and Fairchild to Corner spots, along with the addition of Dunn, another CF that improves the Corner OF spots. Hurtibise has also shown to be decent defensively.

The addition of a RH bat in the outfield of Dunn, while Fairchild can be deployed as a pure platoon/Defensive replacement, makes Fraley and Benson more valuable as pure platoons with some Defensive assets (strong arms). Bell has more options than he had before.

The 1-2-3 of Greene/Lodolo/Abbott has been so much better than we anyone could have possibly imagined going into the season. That the three of them collectively would be where they are right now is what's saved our season after the debilitating key games missed that the team has suffered (and will continue to suffer through the end of the year just with who is gauranteed to miss future games so far).

When we were 20-25 I was hoping we could get to .500 at game 80. If we could then we would be in position to contend with the addition of Marte (that's like a high-quality mid-season trade without giving up anything). CES will be back and we could use his RH power on the road and his help at the DH/1B position. He'll make his next adjustment (BB/K issues).

The sports world is a buzz with excitement about the Ohio Cup.

Joking aside, the Reds got this.

Didn't realize what a good record the Guards have. They have snuck up on me this year.

I was just thinking of him, he said he hated to lose to Cleveland more than any other team.

The Ohio Cup was great before inter league started. It would always be one game at Columbus Clippers home field a couple days before opening day. Had a great time going with friends. Dibble even threw at a couple of batters one game. LOL

    Great memories!
