Jabari Smith breaks a bone in his hand in practice. Out 4-8 weeks. They have the depth to withstand it. The Rockets have stated that they aren't going to make a major move, but the 21-year old Smith is their biggest bargaining chip when it comes to adding an impact player.

I could see POR putting in a claim for him. Teammate of Clingan, athletic Wing who can shoot the "3".

the Pacers are signing free agent guard RayJ Dennis to a new two-way deal to replace Newton.

This must be a sign that the Pacers should be getting a front-court player back from injury soon and are seeking to shift the balance of depth from Wing to play-maker.

Can't remember if POR has a 2-way Opening available. I do know they are running out of time to play Dalano Banton (can't remember if it's 40 or 50 games where he maxes out for POR on a 2-way) before they have to convert him to a full contract. I imagine he's been on extended IL (he's back available tonight against LAL) for 5 or 6 games. POR will have to trade someone from the roster first in order to open up a spot for Dalano (and release who they receive back in trade, while keeping the draft pick they are seeking).
Turns out that no team below MIN in the Claiming Pecking Order made the move...

The Timberwolves have claimed shooting guard Tristen Newton off waivers, cutting guard Daishen Nix to create room on their roster for the newcomer, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

Tim Bontemps asked several people around the NBA how many players earning more than Johnson’s $22.5MM will be traded at this season’s deadline. “Not many,” one said. Another replied, “Maybe two?” The thinking is that CBA-related restrictions will complicate moves involving players with significant cap hits.

Soooo flipping Beal for Butler makes almost too much sense, right?

    Why would MIA do this?

Beal has a no-trade clause, too.

Doug Collins is doing something right, though it's still a dead-cat bounce that's going on.

SAC has saved their season, at least for now.

Putting Dunn in the Starting lineup has helped a lot as Monk is best off the bench. It was Mike Brown, though, that turned Dunn into the player he is right now.

Nets want two 1st Round picks from SAC for Cam Johnson. SAC is maybe thinking that Devin Carter and a 1st is equivalent.

Do they not know that Cam Johnson is one of the NBA's worst Defenders? How is he going to help Sacramento? They need a rim protector and they need to move DeRozan and get back to Fox being the #1 option and his team 100%. How can Fox dictate tempo if DeRozan is slowing it down every chance he gets?

Banchero ready to return this weekend.

The first of many reinforcements for ORL before this season is over with.

    3-Way tie for Coach-of-the-Year between OKC/CLE/ORL.

If last night's game is any indication, a Cleveland-Oklahoma City series would be epic. OKC will be getting Chet Holmgren back sometime this season. What percentage of Holmgren iis to be determined. Isaiah Hartenstein has been filling in admirably.

Wembanyama is averaging more than 25 points per game. Last night Giannis held him to 10.

"Wherever he went, Antetokounmpo was there, wedged underneath him and ready to move his feet. Meandering around the perimeter looking for a switch was his only clear path to freedom from Antetokounmpo’s defensive tyranny."

Kyrie Irving has a disc issue in his back out 2 weeks...Dallas is trying to tread water until after the All Star break.

That game was really well played by both teams, so it was not just a superstar v superstar contest filled with generous foul calls. Cleveland made a ton of tough shots against a team that defends at a high level. OKC just didn’t have the offensive diversity to keep up, with Holmgren out. Would he have balanced the talent level? Regardless, Great basketball is fun to watch.

Chauncey gifted them a win last night.

Why does New Orleans have a team? Move that team out of that City to a place where fans will actually show up to games.

Players don't show up. Fans don't show up. What's the point?

The Kings absolutely destroyed the Celtics in BOS. They even did it without Fox.

Sabonis had 28 Rebounds by himself. BOS's Starting 5 had 29 Rebounds total.
