Whoa, Whoa: We're Halfway There (Minor League Numbers)

Some interesting (and concerning) numbers at the halfway(ish) point of the minor league season:

    - The ACL Reds' team OPS is the highest of all Cincinnati minor league affiliates, at 749. The ACL league average is 763. The Reds rank tied for 10th in OPS. Red ACL hitters are slightly older than league average.
    - The ACL league-wide ERA is a staggering 5.41. That might assuage the doubts of posters who see the ACL Reds' team ERA of 5.05. That ranks 6th in the 15-team ACL, fwiw. Red pitchers are slightly younger than league average.
    - Sammy Stafura ranks in the top 15 in BA, OBP, SLG, and OPS.
    - Sheng-En Lin ranks in the top 15 in OBP.
    - Luis Chevalier ranks in the top 15 in SLG and OPS.

    - The Daytona Tortugas are tied for the league lead in team ERA at 3.39.
    - Their .657 team OPS is well below the league average of 678.
    - Sammy Stafura ranks in the top 15 in BA, OBP, and OPS.
    - Dom Pitelli ranks in the top 15 in BA, SLG and OPS.
    - Ricardo Cabrera ranks in the top 15 in SLG.
    - Nestor Lorant ranks in the top 15 in ERA (min. 30 IP), BB/9, and WHiP.
    - Jose Montero ranks in the top 15 in ERA (min. 30 IP).
    - Anyer Laureano ranks in the top 15 in H/9 and K/9.
    - Brain Edington ranks in the top 15 in BB/9.

    - High A Dayton has a team OPS of 678 in a league wherein the average is 698.
    - Their team ERA ranks third-worst, at 4.70. The league average is nearly a half-run better, at 4.25.
    - Hector Rodriguez ranks in the top 15 in BA.
    - Jay Allen ranks in the top 15 in OBP, OPS, and OPS.
    - Jared Lyons ranks in the top 15 in ERA (min. 30 IP) and K/9.
    - Javi Rivera ranks in the top 15 in innings pitched and K/9.
    - Ryan Cardona ranks in the top 15 in K/9.

    - It's likely unsurprising to see that Chattanooga ranks very low in AA in both team ERA and OPS. Their OPS is an anemic 626, second-worst in the league.
    - Their team ERA is an unsightly 4.59. How bad is that? Really, really bad. The second-worst team has an ERA of 3.88. It's nearly a run worse than league average and two runs worse than Birmingham, who leads the league. Woof.
    - Ruben Ibarra ranks in the top 15 in OBP.
    - Nick Northcut ranks in the top 15 in SLG and OPS.
    - Julian Aguiar is in the top 15 in innings pitched and BB/9.

    - Bats' pitching is the poster child for meh. They're in the middle of the leage in ERA, with a 4.89 team ERA. The International League's average is just barely higher, at 4.91. So... yay?
    - Louisville hitting, otoh, is much worse. Third-worst in the IL, at 733. The league average is 770.
    - Carson Spiers is in the top 15 in ERA, WHiP, H/9, and BB/9.
    - No Bats are in the top 15 in BA, OBP, SLG, or OPS.

Pitelli and Stafura have been nice finds so far. Not much else to get excited about.

Allen has fallen off a little after the hand injury of late and while Stewart isn't on a leaderboard he's having a very solid year.

Ibarra is fun to watch turn the bases.... 290 is kind. That said, he's got a really good looking swing but my guess is that he is about at his peak.

After the many pitching disappointments I'd say the year by Dunn is one that jumps out the most given his trajectory. Still time to turn it around.
