I think team leadership is thinking, “his horrible K% and sub-100 wRC+ against RHP is very bad, but it’s several standard deviations better than anything else we have in the organization currently.”

Can you imagine how bad Hurtubise would be playing Benson’s role? Can you have a negative SLG? Is that possible? Can you owe bases?

Is this supposed to be a defense? Imagine how bad Hurtubise would be?

Benson strikes out 42% against righties and he now only plays against righties. He should not be a starting outfielder on the club. He should be at AAA.

Not a defense at all. Benson is very bad. That’s not in dispute.

My point is that the Reds’ organizational depth at OF is quite abysmal. Friedl has been hurt, Fraley has turned in to Juan Castro and everyone else is a mediocre role player at best.

And this is why you can't bonehead/analytics yourself out of a win yesterday. Reds had total control of the game and gave it to the Red Sox wrapped in a bow. Days like today happen, especially when the bottom 3rd of our lineup might be the worst in baseball

He isn't eligible to come back up for another week I think, unless there's an injury and he got hit in the face yesterday.
