Watching some highlights of it this morning, the baseball fan in me thinks that solo no hitter is very cool to see. Seems no hitters have become more and more combined over the years.

That being said hopefully the Reds make up for all their hits for the next week.

Yeah now that you mention it I thought he came very close to being tossed hopping off the mound on a ball call early in the game.

This is a team that has had a lot of 3, 4 , and 5 hit games this season. It's not a good hitting team, so this was not a great surprise that a quality lefty did this to them. What is more bothersome is the season long poor hitting approaches by most of the members of this team. The less than smart hitting strategy started poorly this season and has not improved. Whoever is the hitting coach(I can never remember his name) is stealing money from the organization and should be pink slipped as soon as game 162 wraps up.

I was actually at Riverfront when Tom Seamer pitched his no hitter, in 1978. I was a little kid and still remember my dad saying that Seaver was going to pitch a no-no as we sat down in the blue seats before the game….. it’s a whole’nuther thing when your team does the other team. Memories, lol!

Looking back at the box score, the part that I didn’t remember was that Johnny Bench did not catch that game….. hmmmm?

Our Reds are currently hitting .228 which is 28th in baseball. Only the lowly White Sox and Mariners are worse. How Joel and others still have a job is beyond me.

Don Werner caught that game. Bench must have been injured. I saw 76 Reds come within two outs of being no hit on the next to last day of the season. It happens to the best of teams.

The Reds are indeed a poor hitting team, but that's not the problem. It's a symptom. The problem is the bad coaching staff, and (IMO) ownership dictating who gets playing time, AKA no accountability.
