That sounds really cool; no clue how they make hat happen but i assume they have a solid plan together.
Seems like a lot of money to transform the track area into a baseball field suitable for a MLB game for 1 (?) night of baseball. Non the less sounds pretty cool
Posting in the clutch since twenty ought two.
146k seating capacity. Who is the home team?
Not sure how an MLB field will be wedged in there. But then, I don’t know about the dimensions of the bowl.

The 2025 Hillbilly Open!
(And I say this as a child of the Carolinas, Reds fan, and Braves watcher since early days of TBS bc it was baseball on tv)
Also... yeah, think I will make that trip as it is 3 hrs or so and the tailgate scene should be worth the trip in itself
Okay, but I've listened to enough Jason Isbell to know not to stay at the Super 8 there. Better off sleeping in the county jail.

Elly should get to play at a raceway. It’s only fitting

Someone posted a mockup of this on Twitter and it looks like the Polo Grounds on steroids. For those of you too young to know what that looked like it was basically like playing in a bathtub. Huge, huge CF and very short down the RF and LF lines. I would guess that if the distance down the lines are very short, they will put up some kind of wall(s) like in LF in Fenway. As for CF, I would think a simple temporary fence around 400 feet away would do the trick.

Something I'm sure we won't be able to get.
using Google maps today I measured the distance across the infield and there is about 327 feet between pit walls. They could take down part of the pit wall to fit in the field in they configure it like that (with one baseline going straight across the infield parking lot)
I guess they know what they are doing but I would think they are going to have to lay some sod in there and hopefully that won't be an issue as far as footing goes.
I also wonder how it's going to look on TV that you may only get a third of the stadium filled up. It's going to look like one of those CLE games when they played in Municipal when they drew 5K in an 80K seat stadium.

I would like to be part of the pit crew. Where can I sign up?

Should be fun but I bet they won't do it twice.
I live about 15 minutes from the track and will be there for sure! There are a ton of both Reds and Braves fans around here. There will probably be very large numbers driving in from over a hundred miles away. That racetrack is a tourist attraction in itself. Untold numbers will come just for the novelty. They played a UT VT football game there 8 years ago and it drew like 140k fans.
