Whatever happened to the game they were playing once a year in Iowa in the cornfield? I thought that was pretty good. Also the one this past year at Rickwood Field was a good showcase. I think they ought to go to one of the older minor league parks every year. They can put money into it for the upgrade of the old park. I am sure there are plenty of those still around and lord knows MLB has plenty of money to do this. It would be of great value to showcase this as way of exposing big league to the smaller areas and try to grow the game. I just don't think playing on a race track does much.

Absolutely. But they put MLB on the national stage for one evening in the middle of the season. Kind of like when they play those college basketball games on aircraft carriers. It's going to get quite a bit more attention than if it was played here or ATL.

Yeah, I thought they kind of bastardized it by adding the new field but now it's a whole thing. I guess they are going to have several baseball/softball fields there so kids can say they played at FOD. I went there back in the late 90s - way before the changes took place. I don't know if I'd want to go back if I had the opportunity.

So baseball is seeing the NHL's wins with the Winter Classic and Stadium Series games. As someone who has attended a few of those these aren't really a good thing live in person. They are better on TV.

I guess it's the in person experience they are selling. There are people who live 5 miles from GABP who wouldn't go see this game if it were here but would go to Bristol just to see it. I'm sure that goes for ATL fans too.
