What? Schools leave the Big 12 and remember how to play defense?

Tennessee is a bit of a mess. Down 3-0 at halftime to Florida?!? Yikes.

I don't know if anyone saw Cal/Pitt, but it was literally a replay of watching Zac Taylor choke against the Ravens. Bears are moving the ball at will through the air and then they get barely within FG range and the Cal Head Coach goes run-run-run when there's way too much time left to even bother about it, trying to run out the clock leaving an impossible FG attempt for a very bad kicker (Bengals had a good kicker, but that's not the point). California wonders why they keep folding in the 4th Quarter. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure this out (nor why the Bengals record is what it is).

There were some darn good games yesterday, all over, every conference, and that's what it's all about. I thoroughly enjoyed doing nothing and watching football while gaining 5-6 lbs munching the whole time. Plus the wife made a crockpot of homemade vegetable beef soup. I made cornbread.

I think Penn State got off lucky thanks to the refs and missed INT calls. I've been actually kind of enjoying, these last few weeks, watching the so-called "giants" of college football going down and struggling vs unranked teams. Is there more parity now due to the NIL/portal?

Ohio State just had a bye, now they have another this next week? Crazy.

There was all this talk about how Bama was the #1 ranked team and won't miss a beat. Well that shine is now off, Saben doesn't lose that game. DeBoer now has his work cut out for him with a potential knock out game against Tennessee in two weeks.

The vaunted SEC took it on the chin this week. Its still early and there is a lot of football to play, and the good teams will get better as the season goes along.

I did think it was funny a headline on ESPN said the OSU win over Iowa had to feel like a loss because they gave up a TD to Iowa. That is some grade A trolling job by ESPN.
As you saw yesterday, even a seasoned QB like Will Howard makes a mistake like that. What was he thinking? It happens

Case in point: Marshall was leading Georgia Southern 23-3 with under 7 minutes to play in the 4th quarter, in what looked like a snoozer of a game. But in the final 6:45, there was a safety, three crushing Marshall turnovers after having only two turnovers all season, and some incredible clutch QB play by Indiana transfer Dexter Williams who was only playing because of an injury to the starter. He went 10 for 14 for 135 yards with one passing TD and one rushing TD to lead the Eagles to an improbable 24-23 win. Just when you think you’ve seen it all.

Howard didn’t run out of bounds, he was trying to slide and call a timeout. He was 1 second late.

How bad is Ohio State's place kicker that tney tried that with 6 seconds left instead of trying a 55 yard FG?

I think the plan was for Howard to throw a quick out, he just screwed up and tried to run and call a TO.

Pretty much the same thing. Nico was late getting out of bounds. Both snapped the ball with 6 seconds on the clock. One was a slide, one was getting out of bounds. A lot of similarities

Not a lot of college kickers can kick 55 yarders with any kind of reliability
