As it stands today, top four seeds would be:
1) Texas
2) Ohio State
3) Clemson or Miami
4) Iowa State or BYU (or Texas Tech)
There's also a chance Boise sneaks into the #4 slot ahead of the Big XII champs (or the ACC champ if it's someone other than Clemson or Miami).
Also, if we end up with some weak #3/#4 seeds, I wouldn't be surprised if they blow the seeding concept up and just seed the teams 1-12 regardless of conference championship status starting next year.

The whole thing is a change since it's the first year of the new system.
Also, just took a look at Iowa State's schedule, and they could easily get to 10-0 before we find out if they're actually any good. They are at Utah and vs. Kansas State their last two (plus presumably the conference championship game if they even split those two).

Edit: they would've stayed #4, forgot about Texas still being in the Big 12. It would've worked out where the top 11 teams in the final CFP rankings that last year would've slotted in those same 11 spots, with Liberty as the #12 seed.
The 2022 Ohio State scenario you mentioned would better illustrate things. They got into the playoff as the #4 despite not being conference champs. Same with TCU at #3. Under the new system Ohio State would be at #6 and TCU would've been #5. It would've been #1 Georgia, #2 Michigan, #3 Clemson (even though they were #7 in the CFP rankings because they won the ACC title) and #4 Utah (#8 in the rankings but Pac-12 champs). Alabama would've slid from #5 to #7, Tennessee would've dropped from #6 to #8, #9-11 would stay the same (Kansas St., USC, Penn St.) and #16 Tulane would get the #12 seed as best Group of 5 champ.

The #4 seed will be a the weakest conference champ. Its not the #4 overall team. Using the current AP Poll, that #4 seed would be ISU who is currently ranked outside of the top 10, the next most likely team right now is BYU who is ranked 14th. Using he current AP Poll, the #1 overall seed would potentially face the winner of Alabama vs Tennessee. The 5 seed as it stand now would be Oregon who would get maybe Boise St, then get ISU in the 2nd round.
The NCAA has eliminated the national letter of intent. They will be replaced by financial aid and scholarship agreements.

Another day of college football. Let’s see if Nico and Tennessee can right the ship today. One thing RTG and I agree on is that his play was unacceptable last week. I think returning to Neyland will be a big plus but if they don’t win today then they are pretenders
College football is the shortest of all seasons. We need to enjoy each and every week
