    Either -

    1. Reds read my post in yesterda’s thread saying that India desperately needed time off; or

    2. They came to that wise decision on their own.

Probably #1, but I’ll settle for #2. (In any event, a week late.)

I get why you try to get Steer going at lead off but TJ is the only other option. Can Steer even play 2B??

It was actually #3. I read your post yesterday, and seeing as how I think you are the best baseball mind on the board, I called the Reds office and downright insisted that they heed your advice and give Jonathan a day off. It worked to perfection. Maybe follow up yesterday's post with a similar post about the club giving David Bell next year off.

Now, if my other plan will work just as well. I'm going to call Irving Azoff at Azoff Music Management, who handles the Eagles, and tell him to immediately fire Henley for lip snyching and to start airing his dirty laundry to fans everywhere. That would give me a Peaceful Easy Feeling. This is The Last Resort. Too bad his Lyin' Eyes aren't Already Gone. Hopefully, it's not Wasted Time on my part and that it pays off in The Long Run.

Steer has started 18 games in the majors at 2B and 88 in the minors.

I forgot he played there. Thanks.

I would have rolled with TJ first. Espinal at 2B batting 2nd just for this game. Bring back CF and 2B bat first and second!

Somebody explain Steer at lead off and Friedl at cleanup without making it sound like we need a new lineup maker.

Lineup maker... I wouldn't want David being my SANDWICH MAKER at Subway. He's probably put the cheese on top of the lettuce and the mushrooms under the meat. Probably would throw in some of those nasty anchovies just for the hell of it.

Over the past week, Steer is getting on base at .385 OBP and Friedl is hitting for power .500 SLG. That’s all I got.

Because David Bell makes the lineup and we don't. Best I can do - and this is not nearly the strangest lineup they've had this year.

I didn’t realize Candy Man was so badly bitter this long. .184 .242 .312 in his last 36 games. He’s had to be hurt and playing until they are out of the running. Throw in the FO mandate that no way you’re branching out big signing and wow.
The mediocrity to horrible this team will put up with.

Alexis Diaz has a 2.13 ERA since May 17th. Wouldn’t know it when he pitches or reading the GT.

Come on now. David is only allowed to make out his lineup, per what he’s told, by a guy who’s never picked up a baseball bat, but did spend thousands of hours on his play station. At least the advisor knows how to push buttons, especially us cranky old farts buttons.

Felt like years had passed before he pitched yesterday.

Goldschmidt and Arenado have both been terrible offensively. Tommy Edman was injured all season (now traded). Jordan Walker was expected to be a very productive pillar of the lineup and was cast away within a month.

And they’re still winning. Still well ahead of us.
