My top prospect list

Balcazar looks like he is finally health from the knee injury. I thought he was going to be a player and looks like it took a while to get healthy. He hitting .350 over last 30 game 5 home runs. Wonder what plan for next year when Arroyo comes back. Also Collier had hot and cold moments and for his age doing great. I think once he hits some consistency its going to be crazy. 27 walks vs 21 strike outs over last 120 plate apperances is crazy for him being so young.

I consider Cam Collier to be seriously underrated both by the so-called rating experts and RZ. He now has a 1.096 over the last 21 games as a 19 year old at A+. 95 PA's in that period, with 18K's and 24 W. He has been consistently bringing his K rate down and his walk rate is elite for a player with his power. He is, IMO, easily the best position player prospect in the organization and arguably as good a prospect as Lowder or Burns at this point.

i trade Marte before I would EVER trade Collier.. I been watching his games with Dayton and he is going to be very good. I have said it many times, but he reminds me so much of Devers on the Red Sox.

Acuna might be the most underrated prospect in the system. I'm probably higher on Stafura than most, but the Reds don't have a lot of up the middle talent in the system. There's a lot of guys that I'm just not buying into that some think are real prospects. I'll wait until the season is over to do a deep dive. I never gave up on Collier, and it looks like he's hitting a new gear. I do have pretty big concerns about his defensive profile. He's going to have to put in a lot of work to stick at third.

I had Acuna in AA for next season.

They must really, really like what they're seeing out of him. (Or they're looking to make a deal this off-season and trying to get him some serious helium.)

The million dollar question - is this a small sample size hot streak or did he figure something out and flip a switch. If it’s the later, I say keep him in Dayton the rest of the year and keep reinforcing what he is doing and get some playoff exposure. I am not sure there is any value moving to the black hole in Chattanooga for a month.

Look at Connor Phillips tonight. 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K. It'll take a lot to erase the disaster of a season he's had but hopefully a small step in the right direction.

Petty's second half will get him on several top 100 lists, IMO.

It helped that several guys got healthy and the draft was largely successful.

I like our system a lot, primarily because I think our best guys have got really high ceilings: Burns, Petty, Collier, Stewart, Arroyo (not an exhaustive list). Biggest disappointments for me are the injuries to Stewart and Arroyo and the consequent delay in their moving up the ladder. But I still like both a lot.

This season was bound to be a struggle, if only because there was so little talent in the upper minors. (All of it had graduated already.)

Next year, there will be several interesting prospects in AA and several dotting the rest of the rosters on down. (AAA will still likely be a veritable wasteland until mid-season.)
