After the first two games, I visited with family, knowing the expected result. Someone needs to so something to light a fire. The funeral director we have managing wont do it. That's the problem no matter.

I keep thinking about that quote from Lou Piniella in the Enquirer earlier this week when he said 'Every time I put the uniform on I wanted to kick your a$$. Can anybody imagine David Bell ever saying something like that?
Oh, it'll happen in our lifetime. It's just baseball might look something like this by then:
- automated ump
- furry caps on the helmets just like the NFL
- VR where we can visit the game, and before the game so that we can watch Bell shell his seeds and count them
- mound that goes up and down depending on the height of the batter
- timeouts
- yellow cards
- contraption that Marte wears that slings his arm forward after the first double-pump
- a cornfield windmill version of House since all runners are sent home whether they're on third, second or first or even waiting on the next pitch
“The guys we've had for the most part have been serviceable at this level.”
I can honestly say that this is the first time this season that I have really been profoundly disappointed in my beloved Reds. Yes, they've played some bad baseball before(many times) but this is the first time that , I feel like, after the opening game setback, they just mailed in the remainder of the series. You can get swept at home and still give your best. But you cannot get swept at home by a tally of 28-3 and say that you gave your best. This team lacked fire this series. They hung it up after Friday's loss. Totally unacceptable. Someone needs to be held accountable but no one will. This is a not an organization where accountability is demanded of everyone, or anyone, for that matter.
Some folks on here poo poo the idea that this club needs some veteran leaders who will hold their teammates accountable. You know, a Scott Rolen or Greg Vaughn-type who would chew some ass after the display we saw this weekend. Leadership like Rolen, Vaughn, and others is an invaluable and often overlooked intangible that can make the difference between a team fading in the second half and a team making a playoff push. The bottomline is this team is not good enough and needs better players but it doesn't help when there is such a void of veteran leaders who could help the team hold things together when morale is fading and things are starting to spiral out of control.
I'll shut up now.
