He'd have to be here for the rest of the season, or they'd risk bad PR.
When I say this, I don't mean you in particular, buuuuut, now all of a sudden we are cool with PR moves. Just a few short months ago we ran Joey Votto outa town because he was washed up. Isn't Cueto basically Joey Votto on the pitching rubber?

Buuuuut...I'd be cool with a Cueto return lol

Having Johnny around the clubhouse can only be a plus.

Fair point, but during the talks about Votto, we thought this would be a competitive team and other players would outperform Joey. He wouldn’t not necessarily help the team.

Now, we know thst didn’t happen, and the desperation for any kind of arm that can make more than one start has set in.

Also, if Joey wanted to come back right now in the team as it is, a lot more people would be receptive to it than a year dho.

Bring back Cueto AND Larue and let Johnny kick him in the head again, for old times sake.

No negatives, but if they approach him and say "we'd like you to come back here so you can go out as a Red," he might tell them to go shove it. If the Reds can't promote it as Johnny Cueto day or something like that, I don't see them bringing him back.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

We need arms to finish the season. Bring him back let him throw a few starts and have a Cueto day to wrap the year.

If Johnny is somewhat decent bring him back on a spring training invite for next year.

This team is so hard to watch rignt now that if they brought back Votto it might bring folks to the ballpark. Give him an at bat and a farewall night and some applause.

I don't care what they tell him. At least he can go 5 innings which makes him an ace in the Reds clubhouse.

They don't have the At-Bats to offer Joey.

Cueto has passed through waivers and is a free agent.

    Re: Bring Back Johnny Cueto

I assume Cueto will first try to catch on with a contender (Royals?). But if no contenders are interested, it would definitely be nice to see him go out there one last time as a Red.

    Pass

    I posted this earlier
    Johnny Cueto Elects Free Agency
Right-hander Johnny Cueto elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Angels, per transaction log at MLB.com. That indicates he first went unclaimed on waivers and then rejected an outright assignment to the minors

Cueto signed a minor league deal with the Angels in late July and was selected to the big league roster a month later. He tossed a quality start against the Royals in his first outing as an Angel before being tagged for six runs in five innings versus Detroit in his second start.

Cueto pitched a total of 11 1/3 innings for the Halos, gave up nine runs (four homers) and posted a 6-to-3 K/BB ratio.

    Re: Bring Back Johnny Cueto

I'd certainly invite him in to throw and be evaluated. He could be just what the Reds need to stretch that rotation next year. I can't see a TOR arm voluntarily signing on to pitch in GABP at any reasonable cost and MOR guys will be wary perhaps of the depth the Reds do have--i.e. of getting somewhat lost in the shuffle. Those problems wouldn't exist for Cueto.

    Re: Bring Back Johnny Cueto

I was very much against bringing Votto back at what it would've cost, and I was very adamant that he should retire. However, at this point in the season with only 24 games left I'd have zero problem with Votto or Cueto both coming back on minimum deals to both go out as Reds.

I agree with that. No harm for the rest of the season. Let them both retire as Reds and one last hurrah!
