I didn’t say a word about signing him….but he damn sure needs to be in the lineup. He hits the ball where it is pitched and plays great defense.

I mean he’s hitting .416 since July 8th….I imagine his BABIP is pretty decent.
I like the guy. But I'm not buying that he turned into Tony Gwynn based off 2 months.
I'm not saying you are either BTW.
I'd like for him to be back but as a defensive replacement with a occasional start.

But he is eligible for areebitration. And with those two hot months he is going to get a healthy increase.
I know how this penny pinching team is. If they give him a few million that likely keeps them from giving it to a position of need like a reliever.
If the club wasn't pinching penny they could have Espinal and a reliever but they are.
And I just feel they can pick from about a dozen veteran middle infielders who will make league minimum that can fill Espinal's role similarly.

He has hit a lot of balls well no question. But every bloop has found grass and a lot of ground balls have gone through.
His career batting average is better than any Red has hit this season. His bat will be just fine next season, unless .270 doesn't suit you.

So... statistically it has to be really.. really hard to get just 2 in that inning.

I don’t care about the GM stuff and decisions. I want the best players we have playing…and he is today. Should be everyday until a bit of a slump, not an 0-3 in a game with a no-hitter

You are correct, and not only that, I want the best 26 players we can have on our roster. There will not be 26 players better than Espinal next season. Probably won't be 16 better. He needs to be one of the 26.

Prior to his hot streak was he one of the best 26?
He would have been DFAd by June had they had a healthy infield.

Felt like India would’ve been gone late last year had not for injuries of others
