Right now it’s Ohtani and I’m not even considering others.

Lindor is being pumped as he’s having a big year. If he can keep hot and lead the Mets into the playoffs AND Ohtani goes cold and ends up 48 HR/54 SB and Lindor gets way closer in OPS….then it’s a bit more arguable.

Right now it’s a fight for 2nd with Ozuna, Marte, Lindor….with guys like Adames, Profar in pursuit. Expect a big month from Freddie Freeman and Schwarber

Honestly, if the Mets make the playoffs and factoring in Lindor's impact in every phase of the game along with the relative dearth of help he gets from his teammates (the team is -3.6 Wins Above Average without him), I'd be highly tempted to pick Lindor. He's the more complete and he's carried his team into contention. That guy is like a walking "how to baseball" clinic.

I'd actually go with Lindor...sure there is a gap between their offensive production, but there is also a big gap between gold glove SS vs. DH-only.

The top four guys in fWAR in order are Lindor, Otani, EDLC, and Marte, and they have a bit of separation above the 5-10 spots who are bunched up together.

Man i just have a very very hard time giving MVP to a DH.

You have guys who played all year in the field, sprinting after balls, landing hard on dives, playing in the heat etc.. while Ohtani sits in the dugout next to an AC unit waiting to hit.

It really rubs me the wrong way.

I like Lindor a lot but I don't think he can do enough at this point.

Quality SS vs sitting the bench is an enormous hurdle for Ohtani. But going 50-50 may just do it. He has to be way ahead offensively to overcome the zero defense. Still, Ohtani was robbed when he had an outstanding hitting and pitching year couple seasons ago. That may have been the most "valuable" season EVER but he lost to Judge who had 62 home runs.

Judge still had him by 0.9 WAR. His 1.111 OPS in 2022 was mammoth. They could have given it to either guy, but Judge setting the non-steroid HR record sealed it.

Like you, I expect 50-50 will win it for Ohtani this year (plus moving to the Dodgers). That said, I think Lindor's has had the bigger impact on his team.

Agreed. Thursday's game clinched it. If you're a specialist - pitcher or DH - IMO you really have to be extraordinary to win it over a position player candidate. Ohtani has done that.
