    Chase Petty with a solid outing: 7 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 7 K. At one point, Petty retired 14 straight.

Among he, Lowder, Aguiar, and Burns, I feel that the Reds' young pitching has turned a bit of a corner.

An effective minor league system can churn out a SP and a RP every season, though some years are better than others in terms of the value there.

2022 had Hunter Greene, Graham Ashcraft, Nick Lodolo, and Alexis Diaz. That was a fantastic haul of adequacy and high end options that should pave the way for several solid seasons.
2023 added Brandon Williamson and Andrew Abbott to the starter mix, with Daniel Duarte and Francisco Cruz as relief options. They really outkicked their prospective coverage, and that showed in the win-loss column.
This year brought Carson Spiers and Zulueta, Aguiar, or Lowder. (Depends on what happens the rest of the season.) Again, you can kind of see the drop in production and the resultant win-loss record.

Next year looks like Petty and perhaps Burns, plus Zack Maxwell. Maybe Richardson and Phillips redefine themselves. Lots of options, for sure.

This is the first year the Reds have turned Petty loose, and he's responded like a guys who's built to be a rotation horse going for 127 IP. In 4 of his past 5 starts he's went 7 innings. Over those 5 starts opponents have a sub .500 OPS against him. Really encouraging to see him finish this strong after a pretty big innings bump. Also Petty has only had 41 PA facing a hitter who's younger than him this season.

I like what Stovall is showing so far. He might turn out to be a steal. Let's see how he does next year against pitchers who know how to throw breaking pitches. If he does well, I can see him debut in 2026.
